Our Verdict
No limit on this card, usually we see a limit of 1 or 5. Deal isn’t as useful as previous deals as it’s only $3 off and only applies to the $100 cards. Recent deals have been no activation fee and applied to the $200 cards.  Use a card that earns at a high rate on office supply store purchases. Or stack this with the AmEx Offer deal of 10% off at Staples.

Now that this promo is over I hope they sold 17 cards total nationwide, and decide to go back to the no fee, $2k/day limits of the past. 😀

Interesting you said that. All I see from my perspective is VERY QUICK minimum spend goals. Isn’t the fee $5.95? Hmmm, let me see. No Amex help so going down the list, nearly minted BOA PR spend is where the arrow stops partnered with Preferred Rewards help. The question that needs confirming: 1 or 5 mentioned.
$5.95 – 3 – 1.50 = $1.45 per card. Not exactly a game changer.
Reviewed BOA PR features: $5.95 – 3 – 2.25 = $0.70 per card. That would be $3.50 per $500 (if 5 limit) and would result in a decent minimum spend push. And, $15 toward The Last Well, continuing clean water and the Gospel for Liberia before the end of 2020.
It’s even worse than people are already making it out to be. Since there’s no explicit quantity limit you can bet overzealous employees will only let you buy one.
This deal isn’t worth doing even if I were in Staples picking up an order for the office and walked right by the gift cards! Easy pass for me.
I wouldn’t even do this deal if it was online instead of in store.
