Originally posted on November 29th, 2017. Reposting on January 1st, 2018 as these are now deeply discounted if you can find stock. For example some Target Starbuck stores have these for 90% off making them $4.
The Offer
- Starbucks is offering their refill tumbler for $40 for 2018. It includes free dripped coffee every day in January, if you used it every day it would cost you $1.29 per day.
The Fine Print
- In store only
Our Verdict
Depending on who you ask, this either sells out quickly every year or ends up deeply discounted into December with a price of $20. Personally I think Starbucks coffee is awful, so this is an easy pass for me. That being said reusable cups are the way to go.

10 days in and I just had my 31st coffee
I see this post and am thankful to be working at one of several companies that offer good free coffee every day and often have tumblers as corporate swag gifts.
Yeesh. If you have 40 bucks to spend on coffee, get yourself some Intelligentsia House Blend at Target for 14 and an Aeropress on Amazon for 29. For five bucks more than this tumbler, you get one of the best coffee-making devices out there and a lot of cups of a light roast that will not be so bitter that it requires tons of sugar and cream. And, you still have the Aeropress at the end instead of an ugly tumbler.
Starbucks store was still full price today here also. Perhaps only target?
full price for me, anybody confirm maybe this is just at the target locations? any luck at a normal store location?
I have purchased for the past 2 years but only drink iced coffee. They no longer allow you to fill iced in these tumblers therefore, I didn’t purchase one this year.
I think that actually varies by store, some stores still allow it.
Full price at my SB in Delaware
SB espresso drinks are even worse.
One of my co-workers gave me one as a Christmas gift in 2016 and didn’t know what it was and just put in a cabinet somewhere. So, this is what they’re for
Surprised they didn’t tell you…
I’ve done this every year for the past few years. A great value if you pass a Starbucks on your way to work. Fill up in the morning, get a second cup at lunch or after work. Technically one fill per day but…yeah they don’t track your account or anything.
