The Offer

Direct link to offer (or try this link if that one doesn’t work). If the link doesn’t work, try again later today or tomorrow as it looks like it’s still being rolled out

  • Starbucks Bingo has returned and will run from March 1st until March 28th. Basically everybody receives a board (everybody’s is different) and you get bonus stars as follows:
    • You get 5 stars for each challenge (tile)
    • You get an additional 5 stars for each row/column or diagonal line you complete
    • You get 240 bonus stars for completing the board

The Fine Print

  • Must pay with your registered Starbucks Card or your registered Starbucks Card through the App. S
  • Stars may not be earned on purchases of alcohol or Starbucks Cards. Taxes, tips, donations, and fees (such as delivery fees, shipping and handling fees, gift wrapping fees and bag fees) may also be excluded.
  • See starbucks.com/terms for details.
  • Seems to be targeted as not all Starbucks users will be eligible

Our Verdict

It looks like they have dramatically reduced the number of stars you get for filling in each tile (previously it was 20 stars) and each row (previously 10 stars) but you get a lot more for completing the board (240 instead of 40). Given that there is often tiles that are expensive to fill in this will be a much worse offer than previous promotions. It also seems like people have slightly different rewards as well (e.g some are getting 10 stars per row instead of 5). Keep in mind you can usually complete two or more tasks with one purchase as well (e.g make a purchase on Tuesday and spend $x).

I bought Sous Vibe egg bites and didn’t get credit for them on my bingo coverall game

So evidently they only “invite” “select” gold members to play BINGO. Or any other of their promotions. Very suspicious.

I agree. This is crap. I’m a gold member but didn’t get an invite. Two of my best friends are gold and they did get invites….

During Starbucks for Life, I only ever did the two free plays by filling out the form. I use my debit card most of the time for coffee. I wonder if that’s why I didn’t get invited to Bingo, maybe they see me as a freeloader.

I was wondering the same. I’ve had a ridiculous amount of CS issues with them over the last year or so and sadly just don’t go as much anymore. So I mostly did the free plays in the last couple of games, too.

Honestly, I’m not sure how they get away with only inviting select members to play one of these games. The reason they have to offer free plays is because you cannot exclude anyone based on purchases. That’s why any sweepstakes or contest a public company runs for its customers requires the option to play without purchase.

I’m sure they’ve found a loophole but it’s a really rotten way to treat your customers. Especially because these contests are already limited to gold members…people who’ve spent plenty of money with you.

I called to find out why and of course no one had an answer. I went three levels up and still got a speech about how all of their promo offers and contests are “randomly” offered to “select” members.

They did however give me a $5 courtesy credit. So maybe if enough people take advantage of that, they’ll rethink this horrible practice.

The funny thing is that I wouldn’t have even known about this round of bingo if my husband hadn’t found this link. Just an FYI to whoever runs this site: Starbucks promo links are tied specifically to the account holder and won’t work for anyone else.

Yeah, I am trying to sign in and it says “Oops! Looks like this link was meant for someone else.”

I am a gold member since December and go just a few times per month (I actually just use my Microsoft/Bing rewards to get Starbucks gift cards, which I then spend, so probably $10/month). So I’m not really a huge spender. I wonder if they are targeting big spenders? Or people who’ve been gold for a long time?

I’m calculating at the moment spending roughly $20 in 4 purchases for something worth $15-18 as someone said. For the last bingo, I spent about $11 for about the same amount of stars.

Gonna wait it out for any star dashes and see.

Yeah, a bit spendy this time just to net $15-18 worth of free points. I don’t think I’m falling for the game this time around. Last year it was pretty worthwhile.

1. Make a purchase* by ordering ahead using a registered Starbucks Card in the Starbucks® app two days in a row.
2. Purchase a breakfast sandwich or Sous Vide Egg Bites on two different days.
3. Make a purchase* before 12 p.m. and another after 12 p.m. in a single day.
4. Purchase three handcrafted beverages in a single order.
5. Pair any iced beverage or Frappuccino® blended beverage with any bakery item after 2 p.m. on two separate Fridays.
6. Make a purchase* three days in a row.
7. Make a purchase* on two separate weekend days (Saturday or Sunday).
8. Purchase any lunch item (salad, sandwich or protein box) after 11 a.m.
9. Make a purchase* at four different participating Starbucks® stores.

You can complete the board with 4 purchases over 3 days. I’d estimate about $25. If you can overlap with some decent star dashes, might be an ok return.

This is much worse than before. Had to buy three drinks in one order plus sandwich. Making a lot of spend required.

+1
But they can get away with it because of their popularity
