Our Verdict
There is no indication at checkout that you’ll be getting the $5 card, so just buy a $20 e-gift card (you’ll choose the custom gift card amount to get the minimum $20 purchase) and hope for the best. You should get both the $20 + $5 cards within minutes.
Dansdeals points out that you can pay with Paypal and save an additional $3 (if you haven’t yet used that offer); use a Chase Freedom card for 5x on Paypal this quarter or use the Cash App for 15% back with the boost (don’t use the Starbucks app if you want the Cash App promo).
I just received link to $20 gift card and $5 bonus on two separate emails. I bought $20 e gift card yesterday.
Looks like they ran out of $5 gift card promotion. Just purchased $20 gift card 15 mins ago and already received $20 but not $5. These promotions are really a trap smh
Just contacted support. They said it sold out. They offered me $8 to my balance due to the inconvenience, which is fine with me. Told them it was still advertised in my app which it was when I purchased it.
Did you contact Starbucks or cashstar?
Call Starbucks customer service 1-800-782-7282. They will add $5 to your account.
I just used the chat support and they added $5 to my account, although it took a little bit of asking for it after I was told the terms and conditions of the offer.
Received $20 card but not $5. Not able to see $5 card in cash star website as well. Any inputs?

Got both gift cards within 10 minutes but no $3 from paypal. Purchased 10pm 11/26 PST. Probably paypal already have 250k people redeemed. It’s weird offer still showing on Paypal deal.

This worked for me just now. Used the gift card order to purchase a $20 e gift card (using the custom amount feature to get the $20 amount) and sent the card to myself. Got the purchase receipt and the separate $5 credit email before I got the $20 gift card email. Added both to my account.

I decided to give this a try and it worked. For those wondering about the details… A few minutes ago I ordered a $20 gift card via the Starbucks app (paid via PayPal to utilize my $3 extra offer). Within 10 seconds, I received my order confirmation and an email with the $5 promo gift. I also received an email a minute later from PayPal letting me know I saved $3 on my transaction. Thanks DoC!
