[Expired] Starbucks Offers Free Coffee throughout December for Workers in Healthcare Field

Deal has ended, view more Starbucks deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Starbucks is offering free tall brewed coffee, hot or iced, throughout the month of December to front-line health care providers and first responders.

The Fine Print

  • Starbucks says those eligible for the free tall coffee offer are front-line health care providers and first responders include: doctors, nurses, public health workers, pharmacists, dispatchers, firefighters, paramedics, police officers, dentists and dental hygienists, mental health workers (therapist, psychologist, social worker, counselor, etc.), hospital staff such as janitors, housekeeping/security, and active-duty military.

Our Verdict

They offered a similar thing in May. This time there’s no direct link, but it’s being reported by USA Today. There’s no limits mentioned on how many times a healthcare worker can take advantage of this freebie.

There’s no verification required to get the free coffee, simply identify yourself as a healthcare worker and you’re eligible. Obviously don’t abuse the honor system which would be a garbage thing to do as Starbucks shows thanks to healthcare workers.

I’m a respiratory therapist and I am always disappointed that we are never mentioned as front line workers .

I feel your pain Valerie; I work in xray. Doctors would be working blind without us. Don’t you know, the only people in healthcare are doctors and nurses? 🙁

Since this promo came out originally the one we visit always hooks us up with whatever drink we want when we arrive in uniform…. we never ask, always expect to pay, and always tip no matter what. Getting free stuff in uniform is kinda awkward and almost seemingly impolite to decline the offer but I’ve made a habit of saying “if you’re not going to let me pay, at least let me take care the crew” to ease the guilt

And honestly the health care workers are generally well paid. When a deal like this comes up I would see people tip the difference, and that is probably the right thing to do.

Not always true…while this year I’m getting paid a bit more, the first few years in my profession I averaged $20-25/hr. I know plenty of healthcare workers still in this range. Still worthwhile to tip your baristas tho.

Not true in the least. Average FF/EMT salary is about 35k/year…

Can you use the ~ $2 toward the purchase of something else?
