Our Verdict
The $15 off deal is certainly better on the surface: assuming you have groceries to buy anyway, it amounts to a 15% discount on these gift cards. The thing is that you’ll have to checkout each $100 of gift cards in separate transactions, and then you might have to use the $15 vouchers in separate transactions – let us know your experiences in the comments.
Assuming it’s really easy for you to use those $15 vouchers, there might even be a resale play with gift cards like Best Buy, depending on your reselling relationships. For most people, this will just be a way to get a discount on gift cards to merchants they’d be shopping at anyway.
The 5x fuel points deal isn’t as exciting, but it’s much easier to make use of since you can do a single transaction and get fuel points for the full amount at once.
Be sure to use a credit card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.
Hat tip to DDF
anyone know if I can get like 5 chipotle $10 and 1 Best Buy $50 and have the offer trigger?
Should work – don’t see any reason why it wont. I did 2x Chipotle and 50 staples and worked for me.
Also to note this can now be stacked with 5 off 50 ecoupons for S&S (Staples and Kohls). Check accounts for ecoupons. Several GCs including Staples, BBB, Kohls, Macys have separate ecoupons for 5 off 25. My staples stack worked ok – have to have $5 post coupon grocery total.
I bought one with Quicksilver (1.5% back) instead of using
Amex BCE (3% back)…..smooth 🙁
Can the $15 coupon be used to buy another gift card?
As has been mentioned above and in the terms the short answer is No. But there is a workaround if you do grocery couponing. If you have items worth $15 in your order that you can pay with manufacturer coupons other than this $15 coupon then you can add a GC of $15+ (I would add at least $25 value just to be safe) to the order and then apply this $15 coupon as well. then this will work (I have tested it multiple times during past deals), but cashiers may sometimes not allow…so ymmv.
Nope, don’t think so
ime, i typically find that you are limited to one voucher of $15 since your keycard is needed to activate offer.
I’ve tried to recycle this offer in the past and never received that voucher on my receipt the second time around. I don’t like to abuse the guest services desk where they will usually just give me $15 in cash, no problems.
Woot woot love these deals. I just need to stash my Stop N Shop receipt with the voucher in my bag so I don’t forget to use it on future shopping trips.
so…. it’s one or the other, not both. (as in 5x fuel points, or $15 off a $100 purchase.) In my (Martin’s / Va valley) case, the deal appears to be just the 5x on the select cards. That works out to 1,000 points on $200 purchase…. => a $1.00 discount on up to 25 gallons at the Martin’s fuel pump. Underwhelming for me. (prefer to wait til they again put the promos on m/c or visa gc’s)
Meantime, Kroger’s current 4x on $250 will get me $1.00 off / gal, for up to 35 gallons. Bottom line: we haven’t paid much out-of-pocket for gas of late. 🙂
Perfect offer to stack with sears 10x thank you point promotion
In the past this promotion has worked with Visa GCs.. I will be able to confirm tomorrow if that is the case or not…
That’s news to me. Terms definitely exclude VGC and even other 3rd party gc not mentioned in the ad.
2nd. Only GC’s mentioned in the add will trigger. Purchased $100 Amazon gc yesterday and did not get the voucher printed on receipt.
No need to report tomorrow. The ad clearly does not include VGCs.
