Our Verdict
SunTrust almost always offer a bonus of some description on their checking accounts, the most recent offer was for $100/$200Â (but they’ve had a bonus of $300 in store). Personally I’d recommend waiting until the $200 bonus comes back, the requirements were slightly harder to meet (direct deposit of $2,000+ and two bill pays) but I think the extra effort is worth it for another $50.
We’ve added this bonus to our list of all the current bank bonuses, we haven’t added it to our best of page as better offers for SunTrust come along regularly.

I received bonus about 2 weeks after receiving employer DD.
***Correction*** just received email that funding was not processed. So it seems suntrust has cutoff credit card funding.
Hello,
I went ahead with this promotion today opening online and used a PNC Visa CC and was able to fund with $800 no problem, only reason I didnt do $1000 was due to credit limit restraints on the card(other purchases on the card).
So as a data point you should be able to fund with Visa credit card up to $1,000 as noted.
Looking back I see the bonus was actually $200 (not $150) for the one I messed up making it even worse.
I signed up last year for a $150 promotion with SunTrust and messed it up. I did the $2000 direct deposit and the 2 bill pays. What I did wrong was I only paid $10 for each bill pay. The terms stated they had to be $50 each and I didn’t notice that until they told me why my bonus was declined. I closed my account recently with a loss. That was the first time I can remember that I failed to meet the requirements for a promotion I signed up for. This promotion doesn’t seem to require bill pays. Unfortunately the state I live in isn’t listed here so I can’t try again.
