The Synchrony Cathay Pacific Visa® Credit Card is no longer accepting new applications. It does say stay tuned for updates in 2025, so presumably either Synchrony is refreshing the card or Cathay pacific is moving card issuers. This card has never been super attractive due to the relatively low sign up bonus (high of 65,000 miles publicly or 90,000 miles targeted).

Tried to apply for this card a few months ago and they denied for “unable to verify identity” so I called recon assuming like other banks I would just be able to send in requested info. Apparently they have no recon process and the agents only suggestion was to try to apply again in 60 days.
I knew Synchrony bank was useless, and only applied for the card to get the SUB so unfortunate that I missed it, but hope that a world class airline like Cathay is planning on moving to an actual bank.
Synchrony sucks hope Cathay switches card issuer. I have 2 current active store cards with Synchrony, no negative anything, and got denied by Synchrony for “high risk source of application”.
I’ve never seen any of the Asian airlines offer a good sub or earnings. Of course, the US isn’t really their target market so card offerings from here seem limited use anyways.
The recent Korean Skypass 70k offer was solid for an Asian airline.
Yup. 70k was pretty good.
Rotten SUB. Rotten earnings. Rotten card.
Agreed. I had this card, and Synchrony rejected nearly every transaction. Called their fraud department countless times. They are almost as bad as Citibank with overseas purchases.
The worst card ever! I don’t know where to begin.
Before returning from an overseas trip to Asia, my card was declined for payment at an Asian Casino Buffet.
When I got home, there was a new card in my mail. I have no idea why my card was deactivated in the first place, I “activated” the new card or so I thought. When I tried to make a purchase, It was declined. I called them and had to go through all the Bull!#* prompts to get to a live service rep, who told me the card is “Activated”. I went to make a purchase and it was declined . I called again, going through all that “Bull!#* and, after a long hold was told its now “Activated”. I again went to make a purchase and again was declined. I called again, yes all the Bull!#* prompts and spoke to another Rep, who sent me a link that required me to take a photo of my Driver’s License and a video of my face. After I submitted this, I was assured that the card is now “Activated”. I proceeded to make a purchase and it was declined again! I called them again…… I told them there was something wrong with this card and that they should just send me a new one, which after a long hold , they told me they would send one. That was October 14, and I was told I’d get it in 7-10 business days. After 10 business days, Nothing . Once again I called and I was informed there was a technical Glitch and the card was not sent. I was put on a long hold , over an hour , I’m not kidding. Finally I was told to call back in 48 hours. I told them that I was going to be traveling back to Asia very soon and they would have to expedite it, which they assured me they would. When I called back after 2 days, I was told they sent the card out and I’d receive it in 7-10 business days. Too late to make a long story short but, I left the country with No card.
Synchrony is a disaster and a stain on the world class Cathay Pacific brand.
