Our Verdict
You get the 15% back in points in addition to the normal points you’d earn. Walmart looks a good option for this week. They have a new offer every week, this is what they have previously had:

This is another confusing one in that the fine print says 15% back, but the ad says $15 back. In my experience they actually mean 15% back with the $50 max but they do the image wrong for whatever reason.
Be certain you do not have multiple SYWR accounts in your household. Participation in this offer will now result in a general account audit as Sears Holdings improves its security and fraud prevention practices as money gets tighter. We think around 2/1 they hired a new contractor to manage online fraud and loss and before any bonuses are awarded, they run some sort of automated process to verify you do not have multiple SYWR accounts (same address, same phone number, same credit card number on file). If they discover you do, your award will be canceled, your SYWR membership will be suspended, and all prior collected but unspent points will be forfeit.
As many SYWR veterans can also tell you, a very detailed account review is also being conducted for their sweepstakes winners (where it is easy to win a few dollars in points). Tens of thousands of accounts were suspended in January as award winners were subjected to automated account audits that uncovered multiple accounts (some intentionally created to grab more points while others were accidental or belonged to other household members). Best advice: don’t play the sweeps unless you are CERTAIN there are no old or forgotten accounts hanging around. SYWR customer service will combine accounts for you and this gives you amnesty.

Thanks William for the catch. My significant purchase via Staples two weeks ago tracked back at 15% (+1%)… nicely so, thus far. This week, Sam’s Club will be 15% + 4%… 🙂 Experiment in progress.
Nice, 19% back at Sam’s Club is a good return. Even if it is in the form of SYWR points.
