The Fine Print

  • Limited time offers, subject to change. Qualifying service required for T-Mobile Tuesdays.

  • MLB.TV Offer for new 2020 MLB.TV subscribers only. No account sharing; not for use on other carriers’ wireless devices. Blackout & other restrictions apply.

  • The Athletic: Payment card required; auto-renews after 1 year for $59.99 unless subscription is cancelled.

Our Verdict

Earlier this year, T-Mobile gave out a free year of MLB.TV back in March for the upcoming season (at that time it was valued at $121.99), but that deal was pulled when the season was delayed, and they are now offering it again. They added The Athletic subscription this time as well.

PS – does anyone know how to parse out the link for The Athletic subscription? I have a current sub but want to gift a friend but it just opens the app on my iphone. Thanks!

I cannot redeem the MLB code either. It says “Our records indicate this code has already been redeemed”. But it didn’t appear in my account when I click subscription management.

Anyone got the MLB subscription to work? I clicked redeem but it just endlessly loads when it opens the MLB app.

Try creating an account or signing in the mlb app first and then redeem the code, I had the same issue.

If I sign up for this now, will it continue to work if I then cancel my Sprint line in a couple days?

I hope it’s for next year and not the 60 game covid-19 special.

It starts right now. So it’s for this year’s reduced season, and the first half of next year’s season if they do a full season next year.

FYI, you can cancel the auto-renewal on your Athletic subscription immediately (at least in iOS) and you still get to keep the full year trial.

Auto-renewal cancellation works on website as well. Mine now says:

Plan: Cancelled
Annual Plan
Subscription Ends: Jul 21, 2021
