Our Verdict
There is a similar online/in store offer that gets you the same 20% off coupon but that requires $50 in spend. There is no limit on the 20% discount, so you’re probably better off doing the app deal if you can as then you don’t need to spend the $50. Usually the 20% off excludes some electronics, Apple products and gift cards.
Has anyone figured a good item to buy with this promotion+GC to resell?
Wow, nobody? Thought for sure some DoC’ers would lead me down the right path.
Worked as DoC advised us.
My mistake with my last post – it works multiple times in store and online.
I got one unique discount code in my email inbox for my $50 online purchase. Then I received another unique code in my app after making a $15 in store purchase and scanning my target wallet in my target app (the unique discount code for 20% off appeared after I left the store and got home).
And then when I made a second purchase in store with my target wallet, the lady gave me a physical discount coupon for 20% off – which again had a unique code. I used self checkout for my two separate in store purchase which may have contributed to why I got two unique coupon codes. So now I have 3 unique coupons for 20% off.
Heads up…
I bought a $50 gift card online and got the 20% off coupon.
Then I went to the store and I made 2 in store purchases. The first purchase was for $15 and I did not get the coupon. The second purchase was for merchandise over $50 and I got the coupon. So there is some sort of glitch where you only get the coupon when you spend over $50 in store and online.
But good news is you can get it twice if you spend $50 online and then again in store today!
Any reason you want two coupons?
DUH
William Charles SO HE CAN SAVE 20% TWICE!!!
This did not work. Tried it multiple times.
Any one know if this 20% can be used on Apple products.
Bought a banana on the way to work today at the corporate flagship target storefront $0.29 via app.
The coupon showed up in my wallet in about an hour.
Had the same experience, except I am a sane person so I went at 9:30pm.
Just to be clear— we have to use the Wallet in the app IN STORE, correct?
Ya. Doc should fix this post.
Made it clearer
Not really sure how to use this instore. Buy through the app but be present in the store 🤔? So basically not checkout instore but check out through the app.
Gotta scan a barcode in the app at a register. This can be self-checkout.
checkout in-store using Wallet in the target app ($0.01 minimum purchase) or you can just buy $50 worth of stuff online and you will get the coupon emailed to you. Might just grab a $50 Target gift card online just to get the coupon and not have to deal with going to the store today.
I actually bought a banana 🙂 and checked out through the register. Payed with a CC at the register and also scanned the bar code in the wallet app. Not really sure if it worked. Dont see any coupon
Ted below had better luck with the banana 🙂
normally around this time of the year they have 20% off target GCs, so I’m waiting for that 🙂
No, at this time of the year (Sun Dec 3rd 2017) it was 10% off Target GCs. In addition, Target was a 5% cash back category for Discover. So you could stack those two.
This year the best we will probably see is 10% off Target GCs.
Nevermind 🙂

I think the real challenge will be getting into the store on Friday. A few years ago I remember driving by a Target on black friday, and there was a line to even get into the parking lot. If it’s gonna be anything like that this year then forget it, my time is way more valuable.
But the coupon can be used till December 8th…
To get the coupon you have to be physically be in the store on black friday…
Aaaah, thanks. It wasn’t very clear from the original post.
Ignore
Wait and go late Friday evening. The crowds are mostly Thursday night / Friday morning.
