The Offer
The Target Black Friday ad is out and it shows the following deal (toward end of ad):
- Shop $50 or more at Target stores or online on November 24th and get a coupon for 20% off at Target stores to be used November 28th through December 10th
The Fine Print
- $50 spend must be in a single transaction
- Coupon will come via email on November 25th for online orders; for -in-store orders you’ll get the coupon at the register
- Coupon valid November 28th through December 10th
- The initial spend can be done in-store or online. Unclear whether the 20% off will work online too or only in-store.
- Limit one 20% coupon per guest
- Category Coupon. Valid one-time use only. Limit one identical coupon per guest. Percent off coupon will apply to all qualifying items in transaction. Cannot be combined with any other Category Coupon. This coupon for use by original recipient only. Void if copied, scanned, altered, transferred, purchased, sold or prohibited by law. Promo code may not be applied to previous orders. Gift cards and tax not included in determining purchase total. - The $50 minimum will calculate after all discounts were applied
- CVS pharmacy, clinic, and optical are excluded (terms sound like they are excluded from being part of the $50; not sure if they are excluded from using the coupon)
- Unclear if buying a $50 Target gift card will trigger the coupon (I’d guess third-party gift cards will work)
Our Verdict
The 20% off coupon is quite generous as it there isn’t any volume limit. The major question: what is the ‘some exclusions apply’ limitation. If you can get 20% off expensive electronics, it’s an excellent deal, otherwise most people will just be able to get $10-$50 of value out of this on regular shopping and holiday shopping. Still a nice deal.
Another thing I don’t like about this deal is that it might be meant to replace the yearly ‘10% off Target gift cards‘ deal. We’ll see.
Don’t forget to use your coupons — they expire tomorrow! They do stack with Cartwheel discounts, such as the current 15% off bedding and bath. We checked out, saw the grand total, scanned the 20% off coupon, saw the new total, and then scanned the Cartwheel code and it took another big chunk off the total. Also, a PSA: you do not have to have a smart phone to use Cartwheel. You can just log into your Target account, go to Cartwheel, and select the offers you want. Click “Checkout” from the Cartwheel page, and it will let you print out a barcode that acts like a coupon for all the offers you selected that you can then scan in store at the register.
The 10% off of gift cards would typically be this upcoming Sunday the 3rd… Fingers crossed

FYI. everyone should be careful with their fake ass typical retail price “discount” mirage. target has dynamic pricing software like many other stores and changes in real time. u gotta know ur prices hardcore or you will always be overpaying even with this “20% discount code”. many things will increase in price to compensate for the discount.
I spent $50+ and I received confirmation I will “receive coupon via email within 24 hours
Your coupon will be redeemable Nov. 28–Dec. 10 for one shopping trip in Target stores or on Target.com. Some exclusions apply.” But it’s been 1.5 days and I still haven’t gotten email for the 20% coupon. Anyone else having this?

Actually, I had to scour my spam folder and found it there. I guess I went overboard with marking all this spam “amazon” “target” and other emails that google was not properly blocking and it went to spam. Check your spam or trash
I spent LESS than $50 on target.com yesterday ($44 subtotal, $45.79 total after Redcard discount and tax), and received an email today with the 20% coupon. Some kind of glitch in my favor, I guess.

If you use a Target GC instead of your RedCard, you forego the 5% savings?
Yes. Just placed an order online yesterday using a Target GC and paying the rest with a Redcard. The final order total only reflected the 5% discount for the portion paid with the Redcard.
