Target Launches Target Circle 360 (Amazon Prime, Walmart+ Competitor) $99/Yr

Target is launching Target Circle 360 on April 7th (same time that Target Circle Week starts). This is a competitor to Amazon Prime & Walmart+ and will normally cost $99 per year but if you sign up by May 18, 2024 it will be $49 for the first year (Target Circle cardholders will get the $49 pricing ongoing). It will provide the following benefits:

  • Unlimited same day delivery on orders of 35+ (works on anything from the Shipt marketplace as well)
  • Free 2-day shipping on hundreds of thousands of items
  • Extra 30 days to return items
  • Can ship to your door or somebody else’s

Can’t see this being a huge success without other features added. Walmart+ is free for American Express Platinum cardholders so will be interesting to see if Target partners with another card issuer or not.

I was trying to figure out what this new 360 offers over shipt… it appears that shipt members no longer have free delivery through the target app/site. So basically they’re charging you 50/year for something you got for free yesterday.

Maybe they changed it since I last used it last yr, but I thought that it was $9+ a delivery or $90+ a yr?

I just meant free delivery when u have shipt. Incidentally, any visa infinite card will give you 4 years of shipt free.

Think about all the money being saved by having this vs having your wife go to Target and shop!

Everything at Target is nearly marked up by 10-15 percent compared to Walmart, where as Walmart marks everything up about 10 percent as compared to Sam’s club.

On your first point, I find the opposite happening more and more. I picked up Walmart+ to take advantage of supposedly lower prices than Target and found that Target is cheaper most of the time. I’m referring to non perishables like pantry items, personal care, stuff like that.

I share similar experience as O. My Target is usually about 10-20% more expensive than Walmart and the only thing that makes it comparable is if I do the 10% off GC deal and load up on GCs and combine with Circle deals. With Walmart I can just get what I need without having to deal with all the coupon nonsense and trying to time with the Circle stuff. Target’s strategy seems to try and lure people in by cycling discounts on certain items to make people think they are getting deals and then combining with Target rewards/cash to make sure people only spend that savings back at Target. It is kind of like Kohls.

I am not saying that Target never has better deals than Walmart (and perhaps there is some regional variation also) but you are usually at the whim of Target happening to have some good deal going on at the same time you need the item.

At some point you get subscription fatigue when every business you use wants you to sign up for one

I hope Target does not try to advertise this as a “competitor” to Prime and Walmart+ because right now it would look pathetic. Really this is just a rebranding of Shipt which explains why some people below who already own Shipt are being offered “free” membership.

They need to tie it to a streaming service too.

Amazon Prime has Prime Video, and Walmart+ has Paramount+

Target needs to add either Netflix or Peacock or Hulu. I doubt Apple would be interested.

Agree. Also, they could approach Disney and offer them better options for their merchandise (displays, positioning, promo, etc.) and in return get an ad version of Disney+ or Hulu to pack with Circle 360.

They will probably do that if they don’t get the subscribers. Why do it at first and have to pay the provider.

I do like target mainly because of the CVS inside but its just less caustic than walking around walmart where I live but I am hard pressed at this price without some sort of media streaming with it. Maybe they could bundle with netflix or something, they both have red symbols.

The original Target Pharmacy were much better than CVS. CVS cut hours and took away all the neat Target Pharmacy features like the easier to use bottles and labels.

Target offered me an entirely free year of 360 membership in the app. I shop frequently and already have shipt so I must have been targeted for the offer? I’m in NYC and getting groceries delivered through target os the cheapest option around for when I do a big haul.
