Our Verdict

Doesn’t look like there is any minimum spend requirement on the grocery store purchase, so you could just pick up something really cheap. I’m not sure how Uber will determine if you have made a purchase at any grocery store either (they could do it with Whole Foods if they were sharing information).

I didn’t receive this one by e-mail or in app, but hopefully some readers do.

I open the Uber app and don’t see the “Accept” even though I received an email with the promo. Anyone else having that problem?

I didn’t get the email and it doesn’t show up on my Uber app. I ride Uber a decent amount. I didn’t have a Visa added to my Uber account so I just did it right now, nothing happened. Anything I can do to get the offer?

Got this promo with the Whole Foods requirement.

The legalese was a bit odd, but I don’t see a minimum on the Whole Foods purchase.

And yes, it seems like Visa issues the statement credit and you will be “charged” (at least initially) from Uber.

It seems like Visa is doing most of the data processing for the promo. I found the legalese a little confusing, but the way I read it, the $20 won’t show up as a credit in your Uber account, but rather gets paid back as a statement credit on your Visa bill. You shop at the grocery store + take an Uber ride and then you’ll get a statement credit on the card for the amount of the Uber (up to $20).

Visa is probably hoping that people will add a Visa card and not switch back to whatever card they were previously using (Discover, Membership Rewards earning Amex, etc).
