The Fine Print

Our Verdict

Don’t think I’ve ever seen either this cheap. You can get rid of the special offers by using Amazon chat (you basically just ask and they do it), special offers are basically just ads on the lock screen so really not that bad anyway. I love my paperwhite and read on it frequently, personally I’d pay the extra $30 but the $9.99 option would be make a fantastic cheap gift as well. For more prime day deals read this post. I just noticed I was actually charged $49.99 + tax for this. I placed an order on 7/17, paid with 1 point and used the 40 off kindles offer. However, the kindles were on backorder. It actually shipped on 8/2 and I just now noticed that they charged full price? I didn’t take a screenshot of the payment page when I placed the order and now the invoice on my orders page shows only a $30 discount applied.

If anyone else placed an order while the regular kindle was backordered be sure to check what was actually charged to your card once it shipped.

A small datapoint: I traded in my years-old Paperwhite a while ago, when Amazon was having a “trade in your Kindle, get $30 off a new Kindle” promo.

This “get $30 off a new kindle” coupon cannot stack with this DoC offer.

I am showing $30 off a $50 Kindle Paperwhite. Wondering if they raised the price or something. Price of Kindle is $20 for me.

Same, I was thinking about a new Kindle for $10 but I don’t need one for $20.

Maybe they fixed the system?, for that Kindle only $30 should come off and not $40.

What info do you need to give them to remove special offers? Does it have to be linked to your account? Can you just give them the serial number from the outside of the box?

For those that didn’t get the targeted offer, just try clicking on DoC’s link again. Each time you click, different offers pop up

I’m guessing the premium Oasis model doesn’t see serious discounts?
