[Expired] [Targeted] AmEx Offer: ADT, Spend $250+ & Receive $200 Statement Credit

Deal has expired, view more ADT deals by clicking here

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a one-time $200 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend $250+ for ADT service by calling 833-238-4311, online at ADT.com/AMEX, or via ADT mobile app by 4/7/2019. ADT monitoring contract and other fees apply.

The Fine Print

  • Offer not applicable to system/services purchased from ADT Authorized Dealer(s) or international transactions.
  • Offer requires a 36-month monitoring contract with ADT starting at $28.99/ mo. plus tax for Traditional Service level (In California, 24-month, total service charges starting at $695.76) and enrollment in ADT’s Extended Limited Warranty and ADT EasyPay.
  • Automation Service level starting at $47.99 plus tax.
  • Does not include $25 activation fee.
  • Upon early termination by Customer, ADT may charge 75% of the monthly service charges due for the balance of the contract term.

Our Verdict

Terms say you need to sign up for a 36 month monitoring contract, the real question will be if this works for existing users or not. I’m also not really sure how you’re supposed to hit the $250 in spend by 4/7/2019 if you sign up for a new account if it’s $28.99 per month for the lowest level?

Hat tip to DDG & @RyanRancatore

Data point: paid $250. got the credit a while back. paid $250.00 again on 3/23, no credit. they said it’s from “recurrent bill.” so no $200 credit. 🙁

Another data point: This week, I paid $251.00 toward my ADT account online. Yesterday, both the payment and the $200 credit posted to my account. We’ll see if it sticks…

I did the same as OP here, the credit posted to my Amex and ADT did not issue a refund to the credit card. I get billed quarterly by ADT and they have been deducting from the overpayment. $51 of expense for $251 of value.

ADT rep said the negative balance would be credited back to the card in 60-90 days, anyone have experience with this? Have offers on multiple cards so wondering how hard this can be hit or if it’ll be an issue when credited back.

Data point: have automatic payments set up for my ADT account. Was still able to log in and do a $251 prepayment. It did trigger the Amex Offer, already showing as a credit on my account.

SimpliSafe is a superior product at a lower cost. They’re currently running a 20% off + free video doorbell special.

Care to elaborate on that? Do you have experience with any other systems as well? Do you use SimpliSafe? Do you have to get the subscription as well (is it worth it?) or just pay one time for the products? Any recommendations on which items to get/not get? Finally, do they run this promotion or similar promotions often? Thanks!

Tried a $5 pre-payment on my bill, didn’t get an e-mail from Amex that the offer was used.

You wouldn’t get the email b/c you have to spend the full $250 to trigger it (right?).

Interested in knowing if we can pre-pay this and it’ll work like other amex offers
