Who is in the same boat?
I definitely know Amazon wants to use a fraudulent department to prevent scammer. But actually this team is doing dirt by cheating and stealing money from customers.
Amazon is doing this: “E-mail customers saying they believe that the account was accessed by some third party, and locked the account out and suppressed all of the orders, and revoked the gift card balances. ”
When you add a high balance of gift card to your account, Amazon will allow you to add it successfully, but later they will claim this as a fraud. It’s very simple to write a code to limit you to add the high balance of gift card or suspend the suspicious behavior or give you a warning. But Amazon likes to claim this as a fraud after you complete adding the gift card and to lock your account, revoke the balance.
If your revoked gift cards were purchased from Amazon authorized stores such as Walgreen, Safeway, they don’t give the money back to the original stores. Amazon just steals the money.
After that, the Amazon customer support agent will be keeping cheating you that they will forward your case to the mysterious account specialist (gift card escalation team) and you will receive the response only by email, no call support from them 24 hours later, 48 hours later, or 7-8 days later. You will in this neverending cycle of being “forwarded to the Account Specialist team” and then never actually being contacted. No matter whether you keep the receipt of your gift cards and send it to them or not, no response from the mysterious team.
Actually, many gift cards are true gifts sent from friends, after adding the balance successfully, no one will keep it.
Overall, do not buy and use the Amazon gift card again. Amazon can easily steal the balance.

I’ve only heard horror stories, not personally affected yet. But I am also not a big fan of Amazon shopping. I do have a somewhat sizable GC balance with them and I will try to use it soon. Thanks for sharing, good luck. I’ve heard that the worst Amazon can do is to ban you but they eventually refund your remaning GC balance.

I completed this on Sept 9th and my purchases POSTED. I received emails immediately after my purchase saying “congratulations, you just used your Amex offer”. However, NO credits have posted to my account.

They will. I think Amex technically gives themselves 2 months to post credits. Normally it’s less than week.

I am targeted on both mine and P2 Amex blue everyday for $50/$10. I’m happy about that. But did we decide that buying third party gift cards won’t trigger the credit? I’m having a hard time finding items that we need that are priced close to what other retailers charge.

I think you can reload balance first then use balance to buy 3-party GCs
