Our Verdict
Gift card purchases have worked for previous offers with similar wording, I’m not so sure they will work this time as it specifically states flights must originate in the U.S. My guess is they won’t (Update: One reader already tried it and received the confirmation e-mail so maybe I am wrong). Purchases can be cumulative (e.g you just need to spend a total of $300 during the offer period). Works out to be a 20% discount so very nice for those targeted who can take advantage.

DP: Just bought 3 $100 DL eGC and triggered the offer (got confirmation email from Amex). Resale rate on GiftCardWiki Trading Club is pretty low at 80%, but you can sell for ~84% on Raise (after they take their 12% cut).
Got it on my PRG. My current airline is SW, so I’ll plan to update it to Delta on January 1, wait a couple days, buy a $100 GC to trigger the PRG airline credit, and buy another $200 GC to activate this additional offer. Thanks Doc!
Has anyone seen the credit post? I got the initial email, but still waiting for the credit. It’s only been a couple days though.
Also, I got the offer on 4 amex cards, and added it to all of them, but there is language in the offer that says you can only use it once per online account (all my cards are attached to the same account). Is that standard language on every amex offer that doesn’t matter as long as you get the offer added to the card?
Credits posts usually within a few days, though I’ve had the same deal on different cards take days for some and weeks for others.
As long as you added the offer to your cards, each credit should post, even though the language states otherwise. So far Amex is taking a blind eye to this, but you never know when they might change this. That said, avoid calling or chatting with Amex about your late credit posting because an industrious CSR might notice your offer on multiple cards and flag you.
yea of course, I wouldn’t call about this. the credit for my first purchases posted within a couple of days. So I’ve now bought a second GC on another card that had the offer to see if the credit for that will post.
I’ve now confirmed that this worked on multiple credit cards in my online account (I had it on 4 cards)
woohoo! got it on Wife’s PRG
I wish I knew how their targeting algorithm works, it seems all I ever get are offers for esoteric stores I’ve never heard of that sell $400 cufflinks and $600 blouses.
Offer on my Eveyday Preferred and Surpass, but not Gold Delta, Plat Delta, or BBP. Amusing that they seem to be specifically avoiding Delta cards.
0/16 for my gf and I. I am wondering: do they target people who made delta purchases with the card in the past?
I’m sure it’s much more complicated and really has no ‘rhyme or reason’ to the end users. Activity, card type, spending, spending on competitors, etc.
0/2 cards with Delta activity.
2/6 cards without Delta activity.
1/10 cards have it, my spg personal card
How do you have so many cards? i thought the limit was five…
Limit is five Amex credit cards. You can have as many Amex charge cards as you want. Also, AU cards can get Amex Offers. There are plenty of people who have 100+ Amex cards due to their many AUs.
0/19. I never get these delta ones for some reason. I got the KLM ones though at 20K MR/$1000.
1/2 PRG (primary)
0/3 PRG (AU)
0/1 Dellta Plat
0/1 Amex Plat
1/1 BCP
Appreciate this so much. I keep separate logins and it really helps to know which cards to check first.
thats not how it works but yea, you can use as reference.
