Our Verdict
Some cities have a lot of places with free delivery and others seem to basically have none. Both discounts should work on pick up orders as well. In the past they have offered new users $10 off $15 but that doesn’t look to be available anymore. Best case scenario would be this:
- Order something that costs $22 exactly
- Get $7 off by using a referral bringing total to $15
- Get $5 from American Express offer
Total you pay is $10 for $22 worth of food. Deal isn’t quite that good as you need to spend $22 before taxes, tip and delivery fees. Thanks to anybody who uses my link, but feel free to use other readers links in the comments below.

GrubHub and Seamless seem to be very closely related. Can anyone explain to me the difference between them, and whether an Amex Offer on one would work if I use the other site?
They are owned by the same company. Seamless and GrubHub were separate, and mergered a few years back. However, I would use the specific service that your Amex offer specifies. I have both apps. In NYC, both apps have an identical selection, but it could always vary by market.
I have 2k Amex rewards points offer for spending $50 on amazon. Will purchase of Amazon e-gift card or physical gift card work to trigger the bonus points?
Yes, it will.
+1 (also thanks for answering, TanT)
As an FYI Grubhub almost always has a $10 off $15 promo on holiday weekends (4th of July coming up).
Thanks, Justin! New users only right?
Yes
Doc, do you know of any coupon codes (or anywhere to find coupon codes) for GrubHub for EXISTING users? Every site I check is spammed with a billion codes for new referrals, but nobody ever seems to have codes for existing users…. seems like by now, the vast majority of people that would consider using GrubHub have already done so at least once…
Don’t think any exist, if anybody knows hopefully they will post.

@mastervk
i have this offer on two cards, and it would help to know if Grubhub codes as Restaurant (or maybe Grocery)?
Yes. Would like to know this too. My experience has been that this kind of service doesnt code as restaurant in the past 🙁
But like to be proven wrong for Grubhub
GrubHub posted on my Capital One card as dining.
Definitely codes as restaurant – with Amex, Visa, MasterCard, Discover.
