What does “purchase of 100/60” mean? Do you have to spend 100, then another 60 in a seperate purchase? Confused…
Nope, that means there are two different versions of the offer with people getting different versions. Read the fine print of your offer.
Ironically, Macy’s own co-branded Amex does not have this offer.
That is not ironic at all. Branded Amex cards more often than not do not have offers for their brands. After all, if you have that card that means you are already shopping there.
Keep an eye on Amex Connect. Maybe it’ll show up there.
Macy’s Card is one of the worst store CC out there 🤣
If you’re a Capital One Shopping user, check the portal in your desktop and app — mine is currently at 30% cash back at Macy’s, which will stack nicely with the Amex offer if you’re targeted for that too.
Ever had issue with C1 portal shopping on a different card?
I did not get this targeted Amex offer, but for anyone who did, you may want to sign up for the Macy’s rewards program *before* you make your $100/$60 purchase on Amex at Macys to take advantage of this $10 Amex statement credit bonus.
This is why:
A couple of months ago, I joined the free Macy’s rewards program because they had stopped offering free shipping and free returns for all orders over $25 unless you were in their rewards program (at least, for me that is what happened), and after I placed my first online Macy’s order using my rewards program number, they mysteriously deposited $10 bonus points in my Macy’s rewards account that I could apply to any Macy’s purchase in the upcoming 3-4 weeks (which I used successfully on an online purchase a week later).
I say “mysteriously” because a $10 bonus in rewards points was not advertised anywhere when I signed up for their rewards program; actually a different sign-up perk was advertised when I signed up for the rewards program, and they ended up never giving me that one (I forget now what it was), but it worked out better for me to get the free $10 off my next order instead, so I didn’t get in touch with them to ask what had happened to the promised perk. They also didn’t email me to let me know the $10 bonus was in my rewards account or to explain what had triggered it.
Apparently they vary their sign-up perks for their rewards program, so I’m not saying that the perk I got a couple of months ago would still be in place if you signed up now for the Macy’s rewards program, but you might as well see what sort of perk(s) you might be able to get from the *Macy’s side* if you are going to make a $100/$60 purchase there on your Amex card in order to get this $10 bonus from the Amex side.
William Charles William Charles, as I described in my comment just above, I don’t know if you would want to mention in your intro that there may be additional benefits accrued by joining the Macy’s rewards program before taking advantage of this targeted Amex offer. I don’t know what the current Macy’s rewards program is offering as a sign-up perk (maybe nothing, but I think usually they offer something).
Every retailer’s loyalty program has “additional benefits”. Macy’s is no different. That’s not some profound wisdom that needs appending to an article about retail.
By your own admission, you’re pretty new to this. But the fact that you’re only learning about this now does not mean that it is news to the rest of us.
What do people buy at Macy’s that’s worth it there?
Clothes?
no he said *worth it*
Where do you buy clothes? (a sincere question, I’m looking for some shirts (not dress shirts, not t-shirts, something in between)
maybe buy me a drink first geez
I tried to find a belt at Target last weekend. They had about six all very large. I’ll need to go to Macy’s.
I buy clothing online, ship to home, and return whatever I don’t want in store. Convenient, a large selection, and affordable.
I usually just order Nespresso pods from Macy’s to take advantage of such offers. They are the same price everywhere, so at $10 less is always appreciated.
Oddly enough, over the past few years I have found a handful of items that I needed, or that I was looking to buy for family members, on sale at Macy’s for less than at other outlets (even Amazon/Walmart/Target, depending on the item).
Examples of some “name-brand” items that worked out to be good deals for me at Macy’s online, better than at any other store (at the particular time I was looking to buy these specific name-brand items): shoes, slippers, robe, soap dispenser, winter hat, fleece vest, underwear, dishes, bath towels, kitchen small electrical item, some kitchen utensils and a wooden utensil crock.
And up until a few months ago, their standard offer of free shipping and free returns for orders totalling at least $25 was a good value for me. (The last time I looked, they were requiring one to join their rewards program to get the free shipping at $25; otherwise, I think they had bumped it up to a $50 order minimum.)
I don’t know what ongoing benefit being a member of their rewards program offers — apparently there are special sales for members and bonus points offered — but it’s free to sign up, and I think they offer a perk for signing up, so it’s worth doing if you are going to be buying something at Macy’s anyway.
Sale items. Occasionally.
Rarely found anything there cheaper than Kohl’s or WM
