The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a 1x statement credit by using your enrolled card to spend $300+ on room rate and room charges when you pay for your stay with Marriott hotels by 10/25/2018

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid only at participating Marriott® brands in the U.S and U.S. territories, including: JW Marriott®, Autograph Collection®, Renaissance® Hotels, Marriott Hotels®, Delta Hotels®, Gaylord Hotels®, AC Hotels by Marriott®, Courtyard®, Residence Inn®, SpringHill Suites®, Fairfield Inn by Marriott®, TownePlace Suites® and Moxy® Hotels.
  • Reservations must be made online at Marriott.com, via the Marriott Mobile App or by calling Marriott Worldwide Reservations (888-236-2427).
  • Excludes the following brands: The Ritz-Carlton®, St. Regis®, EDITION®, The Luxury Collection, W® Hotels, Bulgari®, Sheraton®, Marriott Vacation Club®, Le Méridien®, Westin®, Design Hotelsâ„¢, Tribute Portfolio®, Four Points® by Sheraton, Protea Hotels®, Aloft®, Marriott Executive Apartments®, Element® and Vistanaâ„¢

Our Verdict

A few things to note:

  • Usually purchasing gift cards at the front desk works to trigger the offer
  • If your stay is after 10/25/2018 you can usually call in and get them to charge you in advance, this usually triggers the offer

Some people are seeing this on the SPG Luxury card as well. If you use the offer on that card then the room rates would be reimbursed under the $300 annual credit as well. So basically spend $300 and get $360 back.

Update: Readers report that the multi-tab trick is working for this Marriott offer. We wrote about this in a separate post as well.

Having trouble finding GC’s at Front Desk. Anyone know if a purchase at the Hotel Bar would work. I spent $290 on a room and need $10 for it to trigger?

Does this work if multiple stays add up to over $300?

Thanks!

Would staying one night at a Marriott location for $220/night and then buying a $80 gift card at the front desk trigger the $60 credit??

Yes. There are multiple DPs of gift cards bought at front desk trigger the offer.

Does anyone have experience booking a hotel in Canada and still getting the Amex offer? Or that portion on the offer enforced?

No, the term excludes hotels outside the U.S. And I did book a Marriott hotel in Canada which did not trigger the offer. Probably the best chance is buying gift cards at the front desk of a participating hotel and make sure that you can use the gift cards overseas.

Stayed at a Fairfield Inn for $155 and bought a $150 gift card at the front desk of a Marriott. Received email confirming offer use immediately after purchasing gift card.

It sounds like these were two separate purchases. Can you verify that you received the $60 back even though the purchases were separate?

Yes, these were two separate purchases on different days. The $60 credit has appeared on my statement.

How do you find out if a Marriott is a corporate vs not a corporate hotel? Thanks
