Our Verdict

You can view our full review of Pepper here. This AmEx offer is an easy-ish way to get $15 off $50 at almost anywhere as they sell top gift card brands like Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Airbnb, and many more.

They sell already-discounted gift cards so to get an additional $15 off makes it even better. You can also spend the $50 on one of the specials that they run, e.g. 13% back on Amazon, etc, to stack this deal further. I’d recommend saving this offer ASAP as I can see this hitting the enrollment cap.

I purchased Amazon GC through Pepper on Oct 25. Posted as MOOCHO with a description of “ APP* PEPPER-AMAZON MIAMI BEACH FL”. Haven’t receive the Amex email or statement credit yet.

For anyone who bough Amazon GC, how long did it take your $15 Amex credit to post?

The post just before yours said 3 days. Mine is showing under redeemed after 2 days but not credited yet.

Thanks, Frey. The post before mine didn’t specify what was purchased. Given that my charges posted 6 days ago, but no email, no credit, and offer is still not marked as redeemed, I was wondering if Amazon GCs are somehow problematic vs other retailers.

Update: As of today (Nov 2) $15 Amex credit posted and offer is marked as redeemed. I did not receive email.

I made the $50 purchase with my AmEx card about 6 days ago and I didn’;t get any notification email about the AmEx Offer and also no credit yet.
Has anyone else gotten the credit or email?

I can’t add amex cards in Pepper. Tried different cards, different wifi networks, etc all with the same result.

Error: no pg_hba.conf entry for host “172.31.xx.xxx”, user “serverless”, database “Moocho”, no encryption

I think it was a hiccup on their server that day. Resolved now.

I’ve tried 2 different amex cards and both got declined in the Pepper app. Is there a workaround? I’ve contacted support and no response yet

Same here. Literally two different cards as well (BBP). Said it was declined. I have 10k credit available so that isn’t it.
Emailed and called and haven’t heard anything.

It took me literally 4 months of calls everyday to get ahold of someone to solve it. It’s ridiculous on a scale I’ve never seen with any other company before. Apparently there are like 2 staff members handling all calls lol and they have incoming calls switched off like 95% of the time. Honestly it doesn’t seem like a real business but apparently it is

Were you an existing Pepper customer? The fine print on the Amex offer says to “sign up” at gopepper dot com so I’m slightly confused.

I added the Amex offer but when I try to add my Amex card as payment I get the following error message even though it is not added to Pepper:
Error: This card already exists in our system. Please add a new card. Contact customer service at 888-416-6161 or [email protected]
Customer service doesn’t respond .

I was able to add my card without any issues. I place a order for $50 Amazon when they had the bonus and it is pending at “MOOCHO”

Be wary of expired cards when using Pepper. They figured it out. I used to use Moocho which converted to pepper. A bunch of my credit cards I had input previously had expired but expired cards do not always show up in the pepper wallet so you need to contact them to delete the expired cards so you can add them again. Unfortunately, you may not know if you have any expired cards on Pepper since they don’t always show up in the app. That is what caused the error message for me.
By the way Moocho was even better as they frequently had free gift card offers up to 10 dollars to many popular merchants. I was using it for years. It was targeted to college kids but anyone could use it.

What’s the best practice just to use the Amex Offer?

I clicked on “You can view our full review of Pepper here” above, and found DoC’s code in the last paragraph.

The FAQ on gopepper.com has a “Refer a Friend” category. However, DoC will only get $20 if I spend $100 within 15 days of signup.

On gopepper.com, it says “New users get DOUBLE POINTS for the first 15 days after sign up” (does not mention needing referral) and “5OFF” code on sign up.

I installed the app, and it says “Earn $5 instantly” (does not state a code) and “Get an extra $20 in points when you spend $200 in your first 15 days”. But the app does not mention DOUBLE POINTS.

Should I use DoC’s code, 5OFF, or nothing?

I opted to enter 5OFF in the “Promo / Referral Code” field below Password during sign-up through the app.

Right after sign-up, I could see “New User Exclusive 2X Points on all purchases for 15 days”, and then after entering my Amex, 10000 points ($5) in the top right corner.

There is a Sam’s Club offer “from 10/27/24 at 12:30pm et to 11:59pm et” for 12X points. A crossed out 2X is the base.

I entered 5500 and applied $5 in points. The base 2000 points ($1 = $50 * 2%) were awarded instantly, and 10000 points ($5 = $50 * 10%) will be awarded on 11/10.

I added the $55 GC to my Wallet on Walmart right away.

From “You can view our full review of Pepper here” above: “Note: the regular points will be available immediately for use, and the signup offer points will become available after the 15 period is over.” Other than a “New user Exclusive DOUBLE POINTS” banner, there is no indication that the transaction earned DOUBLE POINTS (which one’d think should at least double the base 2X).

Although the base 2000 points are available immediately, tapping on it shows “You can redeem points in $5 amounts at any time at checkout.” It means “in $5 increments” (also see the FAQ) for another GC.

The app has no further indication of “Get an extra $20 in points when you spend $200 in your first 15 days” after signing-in/up.

Use 5OFF for $5 worth of credit.
There’s a minimum of $5 for the credit. If you’re buy a $50 amazon gift card(4x points), buy the $50 gift card first and then redeem $7 afterwards.

Buy Amazon Fresh gift card instead. It’s a regular Amazon gift card, but it gives you 12x points.

Are you getting DOUBLE POINTS without a referral code?

The website states: “New users get DOUBLE POINTS for the first 15 days after sign up!”
