The Fine Print
- Enrollment limited. Must first add offer to Card and use same Card to redeem.
- Offer valid on US bill payments for cable and satellite television services made directly with the provider.
- Payments must be made directly with the provider online, via mobile app or by phone. Payments made at service centers do not qualify.
- Payments for hardware, installation, and other services are excluded, if not bundled and charged with monthly service bill.
- Excludes payments for satellite radio services and subscriptions with streaming television providers.
- Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items from your qualifying purchase have been provided/shipped by merchant.
- Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled.
- If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit.
- For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant.

Our Verdict
Saw a similar deal last year as well. Keep in mind you can prepay your bill to lock in the discount. They also have a similar offer on cell phone bills (points or cash back).

DP: used it for my municipal internet bill (no TV) and got the “you used your AMEX offer” email!
DP: Paid my Google fiber bill $200 with my targeted Hilton card. $20 credit posted the next day.
Ah, credit is immediate, not after 9/30. Thanks, news I can use, since some chance at least one of my cards (hello SPG) might be canceled before October. 3/8, by the way (Ascend [but not Aspire], Everyday, and SPG [but not SPG Business]. Go figure.)
Cable TV only, or would cable internet (with the same company as cable TV) also get it?
Late to the party while traveling, but last year it worked for Comcast internet for us.
I think as long as it’s a company that also does cable or satellite it should be fine.
