Our Verdict
I’m not a cruise person, but from what I understand you can usually get bigger discounts elsewhere (or more inclusions). In the past this has worked towards the CHEERS program (on board credit) not sure if that’s still the case or not.
Anyone know if this works on anything after the reservation is paid for? Sailing in 2 weeks on carnival
Can you pre-pay for onboard credit?

I love when this rolls around, as S Nack mentioned it usually comes out twice a year. I think this one has been around for a while, I added it in early December with the same expiration date. If you roll prepaid gratuities into your cruise fare this will work on those also even though the terms say it will not. Also if you use a travel agent that bills carnival, or oneof the other lines in the offer, directly this will trigger the bonus. I have an amex and have my wife and two kids as auth users. This offer, so far, has always shown up on all four cards and can be used by each card on the cruises (essentially $400 off $2000). We use AARP travel for the on board credit bonus they offer and have never had a problem with it triggering the bonus.
Can you elaborate on the AARP travel bonus?
Sorry for the slow reply Lukas, I was circling back because I feel like the offer is due to come around again. Maybe with everything going on they have delayed it? Below is taken directly from the AARP member website to explain the on board credit bonus they give you for booking with them:
AARP Member Credit

Can’t get Royal Caribbean on any of these offers(?)
They seem to push these out twice a year… Booked a 2021 cruise on the Carnival Mardi Gras last year using two $75 offer on the Gold card and the Wells Fargo Propel card, and just got this $100 offer on the Gold card and 10k MR on the BBP card. Seems decent.
