Our Verdict
Previous best offer has been 50,000 miles or 40,000 miles + $100. In the past Alaska has sent out these targeted offers before an offer was made public, I doubt that will be the case this time. Would be added to the best credit card bonus page if it was a public offer.
Hat tip to clumsynuts
I just got this offer via email. 40k for $2k spend in 3 months, plus another 40k after a total of $12k spend in 9 months. The email also has a link to a 70k offer for the biz card spending $4k in 3 months. I can’t find an expiration date anywhere. Both are very tempting…
Looks like there are a few different flavors of the new Alaska BofA snail-mail offer out there.
I got the 40K+40K mailer — but my spend requirement for the 2nd 40K is $15,000 total — in 9 months.
I have never held the card, nor any other CC from BofA.
I’ve been wanting this one for a while, but have been gardening until I’m under 5/24 to pick up a Chase Hyatt card. Now I’m definitely torn.
Always heard Alaska miles were one of the most hard to earn and coveted. DO I wait 4 more months to pick up a Chase Business Card and a Hyatt … or go for this offer and set back my 5/24 until Feb 2022?
Is this only on the personal card or the business card as well?
Received 80k offer today, 40 + 40
@Wlliam Charles I got this offer today with an end date of June 4th. This could indicate the new oneworld charts are coming mid-late June as AS has just said “summer” so far.
Targeted email offer for 60K miles after $3K spend in 3 months.
Sense an ugly devaluation is on way if they offer this high offer. I’ll pass this opportunity till dust settle
It’s a $10k additional MSR for 40k additional miles. Pretty proportional compared to past offers.
Did you look at the breakdown of the offer? It’s only a 40000 offer if you only do $2000 spend; you’ve got to do an additional $10000 spend to get the other 40000. That works out to get only 4 miles per $ on the additional $10000 spend, while you got 20 miles $ on the first $2000 spend.
So I don’t see why you call this that “high” an offer? I consider it a “tricky” offer, because most people won’t do the other $10000 of spend and will only get 40000, but might bite on this offer without reading the details because they think they’ll get 80000.
So I don’t see why such a “tricky” offer would be signs of a coming devaluation.
Meanwhile, are you familiar with the current Alaska Airlines award charts (which do not allow you to mix partners on a single international ticket!), and how they HAVE TO CHANGE soon due to Alaska joining the oneworld alliance? If you were familiar with all that, you’d know that THOSE NECESSARY AWARD CHART CHANGES are the most likely source of coming devaluations, having NOTHING to do with the credit card offer.
Exactly what I was going to post – think the new OneWorld alliance will kill off the most valuable airline points in the game IMHO.
Also with AU/NZ still being closed to International travel for the foreseeable future – as well as so many other countries in limbo because of COVID – make planning trips even more of a PITA.
Shifted our thinking and approach to the CC game from trying to spend points on 4- 6 week long trip each year on – now we are planning on early retirement when I turn 52 in 2023.
Then we will live 4-6 months in a different country every year, then return home during the nice dry summer weather.
Are BoA mailer codes transferable?
Same question. The one we got is addressed to my wife but I would like to apply.
Wife also got targeted. I changed the name on it to match mine and input all my info. Got approved for the card with that offer.
Yeah I was playing around with it last night & saw that the prefilled info was editable but didnt submit the app. Mine got a targeted +2% CB on the cash rewards card, so 5% CB on $2500 quarterly categories & 3% CB everywhere uncapped for 12 months. Not really worth a 24 slot for her (we already have 2.5% & 3% CB everywhere cards) but I’d sign up for the hell of it.
What card do you have thats 3% cb everywhere?
Perhaps he is referring to Altitude Reserve 3X everywhere with mobile wallet payment
He isn’t
There’s at least 3 out there right now, very probably more I don’t know about. A few that used to exist have been discontinued, which is what happens when they get overly publicized…
previous best i’ve seen was a 60,000pt (snailmail) offer that expired this past Tuesday.
