- Some readers with BBVA Compass checking accounts (from this $200 bonus) are reporting receiving an e-mail offering them $50 for setting up and receiving a qualifying direct deposit. The direct deposit must be received by April 16th, 2018
The Fine Print
- You must be a BBVA Compass Consumer Checking primary account holder who received an email from BBVA Compass directly referencing this offer.
- Only select clients who do not currently have any direct deposits posting to their account will qualify for this offer.
- There is a maximum of one (1) bonus per household. This offer is not combinable with other BBVA Compass Workplace Solutions / Compass For Your Cause cash bonus promotions, or any other BBVA Compass cash bonus promotion.
- The $50 bonus will be deposited to the primary accountholder’s checking account within 60 days of meeting the bonus requirements.
- BBVA Compass may report the value of the bonus to the IRS as required by law.
- Any client whose tax status would require BBVA Compass to impose tax withholding of any sort will not be eligible for this bonus.
Our Verdict
You can see what has counted as a direct deposit in the past for BBVA Compass here. This has been the gift that keeps on giving for some people, as they also had a targeted $10 bill pay bonus as well. Obviously this won’t be added to the best checking promotions page due to it being a targeted bonus for existing account holders.

Further DP: I received the prior bonus which was only $10 for completing 3 or 4 bill pays back in January and I wasn’t targeted on this one; whereas P2 was not targeted for that offer, but receive this better offer.

Got $50 bonus on 4/11
Mine was a transfer from Capital One 360 for $500.50 and I did not receive the $50 bonus. I was targeted and did this back in Feb.
Did anyone who was targeted receive this $50 bonus yet? I just got a snail mailer about it today. I already completed the same ACH transfers again that I used to meet the bonus. The mailer does say paid within 90 days but I only had to wait a couple days for the $200. Just curious of other outcomes.
I did a transfer from CapitalOne360 on 2/6/18 and have not received the $50 bonus

Desperate to meet Elements bonus I logged in today to set up external transfer account. Only 5 months later… Low and behold!!!

JuicyJosh, you made me go look and nothing so far. It’s been a little over 5 months for me cause mine was made 2/8/18. I’m glad you got it and maybe there is hope for me.
I received the offer via email on Feb 2, 2018. The subject line is: “Want to earn an easy $50? Set up Direct Deposit today!” In the email, under How to Qualify for This Offer, it says “2. Set Up Direct Deposit Set up Direct Deposit to your existing account referenced above and have one or more electronic direct deposits from an unrelated 3rd party (such as your employer or a government agency) totaling at least $500 post to your checking account by April 16th, 2018.” The offer was not listed under “My Offers” when I logged into BBVA. I did a transfer from CapitalOne360 to my BBVA account and will post if it qualifies for the $50. I don’t know how easy it was though cause I had to first set up my BBVA account as an external account and had to wait two days to verify the account by entering the two small deposit amounts. Thank you for the post because otherwise I wouldn’t have noticed the offer.
Didn’t the November checking deal require DD? That means most of us won’t qualify.
I do not see this in the T&C of the actual email: “Only select clients who do not currently have any direct deposits posting to their account will qualify for this offer.” I was also targeted even though I have received a DD to qualify for the $200.
I got the offer as well. My deal also says that the total deposits must at least be $500 to get the bonus.

If you are a BBVA Compass account holder, if you login into your account , it should show under “My Offers”
