This checking bonus has expired and is no longer available. Click here for a list of the best checking bonuses.
Please note both of the below offers are targeted. In addition the landing pages don’t mention the bonus. In the past some people have gotten Capital One bonuses even if not targeted (datapoints in the most recent money market bonus here). I’m not at all confident of this being the guess with these bigger bonuses, especially considering they don’t show the actual bonus but YMMV.

iPad deal
- You’ll get your very own iPad when you open a 360 Checking account by December 31, 2017, and receive two direct deposits of $250 or more each within 60 days of opening your account. You’ll then receive your new iPad within 5 weeks
$500 Money Market Deal
- Use promo code MY500BONUS and deposit $50,000 or more by December 31st, 2017
The Fine Print
- You must have received this offer directly from Capital One, be the primary account holder of an existing 360 Savings or Money Market account, and this has to be your first 360 Checking account (including former Electric Orange accounts).
- The value of this iPad may be reported to you on IRS Form 1099-INT.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Neither account has any monthly fees to worry about and there is also no early account termination fee either.
Our Verdict
As mentioned at the start, I think this will actually be enforced this time. There is currently a $200 money market account bonus that only requires a deposit of $10,000. That is also targeted, but doesn’t seem to be enforced according to the comments. If anybody decides to risk it, let us know how you go. I won’t be adding this to the best bank bonuses for obvious reasons.
If you’re actually targeted then the iPad deal looks good, not sure what type of iPad you get or how much they value it for tax purposes those. The money market bonus is as high as they offer, but the deposit requirement is equally as high so that will vary from person to person a lot.

Received my ipad today.
I was target customer and met DD requirements earlier this month.
Woo hoo! I just got a FedEx “Direct Signature Required” shipment notification that my 3 pound package is on the way from Capital One. I’m going to optimistically hope it’s an iPad. 🙂
I was targeted (e-mail) for this offer, signed up for my account on 12/14, first deposit 12/22, then my second $250 direct deposit was made on 1/5. So just under two weeks after the second deposit I received the FedEx e-mail.
I *did* have an ING Electric Orange account WAY back in the day (late 90s), but it looks like it didn’t affect eligibility for this offer.
My old iPad is on its last legs, so I was pretty genuinely excited about this. 🙂
FedEx just delivered my IPad! 32 GB Silver Wi-Fi, so retail value of $329 before tax.
It does note that it has been “preconfigured and resealed,” but it looks like that’s just to preload the Capital One app. No big deal! 🙂
I got mine the other day. Did your iPad have a huge Capital One logo laser engraved on the back above the Apple logo? That’s how mine came, along with about 10 pre-loaded bookmarks for various Capital One sites and products, and a Capital One background.
I’ve removed all the bookmarks I’m not going to use and changed the background. I’ll just get a case to cover the back, so overall it was a pretty good deal for the amount you needed to do to qualify. Way better than other offers I’ve gotten from other banks.
I WANT TO INVEST IN THE360 MONEY MARKET THAT HAS A PROMO CODE MY500BONUS
How strict they are about first account? I had checking with them from previous promo
Does anyone know anything about what type of DDs count for Cap One 360? I went with depositing Airbnb funds since that typically works, but it required a 1 cent verification before my Airbnb linked with Cap One 360. I’ve heard through the grapevine that anything that requires a verification like that is typically disqualified as a DD.
Any DP we have will be here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/list-methods-banks-count-direct-deposits/#Capital_One_360
How to get on their mailing/targeted list for such promos? They seem quite good and frequent. I sometimes get mail from cap one about pre-approved credit cards but that’s it. Currently I have no open accounts with them, whether banking or cards
I tried for the prior Capital One 360 checking and money market bonuses even though I wasn’t targeted. I didn’t get either of them after meeting the qualifications. I didn’t call them about it either. The strange part about it is I had a savings account with ING Direct about 10 years and an account with NetBank more than 15 years ago. It seems like they used that to disqualify me for the bonuses, because they still had my old addresses on file and even sent documents to those old addresses, which I didn’t even give them when I signed up with these accounts. I just say this because I have a hard time trusting Capital One, and it seems pretty clear to me that they will deny bonuses even if you’ve had an account with them 10 or 15 years ago when it was a different bank that they bought out.
I currently have a regular 360 checking account (0.02% int). The signup process for the $500 promo took me all the way to the funding page, where I stopped. The MY500BONUS code was prepopulated, but the disqualification language was included. I’ll be the guinea pig that sticks his neck out and will let you know if/when bonus posts. Worst case scenario is a few weeks of 1.3%, unless I am misunderstanding the standard rate which applies to this account.
Nick any luck in getting your bonus? I wired the $50K by Dec 31st spoke to a rep to make sure the bonus code was attached to my account
Is there also a promo code for the iPad deal or is that a personalized one?
Apparently no promo code for the iPad deal
Also wasn’t targeted for sure (no eMail about the iPad deal). So wondering, whether this will work because I do have a Cap1 account.
