Our Verdict

Discover checking offers 1% cash back with a monthly cap of $3,000 in spend ($30 back). I wouldn’t be surprised if Capital One is doing this to test if it’s viable to roll out permanently. I can’t really see many use cases for this for those in our hobby as in most cases you’d simply want to use a credit card that earns 2%+ cash back on all purchases. Even on purchases where credit isn’t accepted this isn’t that useful due to it only applying to purchases under $25.
