The Offer
- Capital One has a few targeted offers that are money makers. To get these offers to show you need to visit the sites with the capital one shopping browser installed and lower offers will show, after 24-48 hours you might get lucky and be sent a targeted offer that is higher.
- Tempo Meals $102, ~$70 mm
- Motley Fool $180 for $99 annual plan
Our Verdict
Nice deals if you can get them to actually show. Has been issues with Motley Fool in the past so personally I’d just skip that one.
Hat tip to John R
Anyone struggling with Spot & Tango emailed “unlock offer” link? Can’t load it in multiple browsers, devices, and internet connections. It just dumps me on a white screen. I think C1 sends follow up emails, maybe the link is cursed
I redeemed some gift cards, and upon revealing the card numbers, I received a warning:
“Keep your gift card secure. We advise that you only reveal the card details when you’re ready to spend.”
I don’t plan to use these gift cards immediately. However, I’m concerned—if Capital One were to lock my account, would I still be able to access the redeemed gift cards and reveal their numbers later?
I’m debating whether to reveal the numbers now and write them down. Is there a significant risk of e-gift cards being stolen if I reveal the numbers now?
Cashed out Lively, Motley Fool and TMobile so far for a credit (net) of 250 (170) + 180 (180) + 250 (~400, as TMobile is supposed to give me a gift card, too). Just a warning Fool appears to refund if purchased w/i a couple months, they fully refunded me so I’m a little worried about clawback. I indicated on Fool that I was lived in CA (and some other states).
Does Motley fool cancel the account immediately if unsubscribed? Some services would still allow for access till the end of the current subscription after the renewal is canceled.
I assume in my case no since I was fully refunded.
Right, that makes sense. I’ll probably wait a few months before cancelation then. I wanted to try out their services, but the amount of marketing emails is so annoying and I don’t think I want to keep it.
Cashed out Lively, Motley Fool, and Tempo today. Now ready to try some other ones. I wanted to do Ollie for $191 and Spot/Tango for $146. I got the targeted offers a while back but now the extension isn’t showing the proper cash back in the popup so I assume those email offers have expired. Has anyone had success getting fresh targeted offers to return? I clicked around the sites again thru the emails with the extension turned on so hopefully that works.
nevermind. Got Spot and Tango targeted email sent.
Capital one has extended the “expected payout date” by two months for my pending rewards. Redeem your available rewards ASAP!
Just a heads up – these Tempo meals are relatively terrible. Sometimes I’ll order a higher # of meals since it’s a decent deal, and give up some profit – don’t do it for Tempo, they’re awful (at least the couple I tried).
Agreed. I washed all the sauces off my salmon filets and it was still too salty and full of all sorts of nasty ingredients, couldn’t finish it all.
Yeah some are really bad. I bet someone’s made a tier list. Also of note is you can skip the first week easily enough (have to chat w/ support), and they change menus every week.
Agreed, thought they were comically bad. One was actually pretty decent. Can’t pass up “free” food though
ATT – $250. Though their cheapest plan is around 40/mo, price in paying for a month or 2, + activation fees, net 150 might not be worth the risk.
Consumer Celluar – $202.5. $5 SIM, $20/mo. Pulled the trigger. Some people say hard pull, I didn’t read the terms at all so we’ll see.
T-Mobile home internet – $250. Did this while they had a $300 gift card promotion. I believe they stack, as the promo tracking method is manual (you have to enter a code after paying/signing up). Hopefully detached enough I can double dip. Protip: 5G home internet is pretty restricted, but you can put anything for the service address, then simply ship it to your house. As long as there’s some signal, you should be able to activate it fine. Mine complains about poor signal, but I do not care.
Thanks for the info mjm
For T-Mobile home internet, what plan did you sign up for? I see their cheapest plan is $20/month which is their internet backup plan. Do you know if that plan will work to trigger the offer? After that, their regular internet plans start at $50/month.
Also when is the payout date the T-Mobile home internet offer? Is it one month after signup or longer?
I only did 5g, which starts at 50/mo, because T-Mobile was running a separate $300 gift card promo for it exclusively. Otherwise yeah I’d do 4g for 20/mo. IIRC the C1S offer was pretty broad.
Purchased Dec 28th, pending for Jan 28th. I don’t expect any issues.

Thanks for the info. I tried signing up for it (T-mobile home internet), however the site asked to do a credit check. I have all my credit reports frozen so it didn’t go through. Was it a soft pull or hard pull for you? And do you know which credit bureau they pulled from? I am seeing mixed reports from searching online, some saying soft, some saying hard.
No HP in credit karma, C1 app. I’m a bit behind on the meta for that. I usually count it a HP when I get 4 emails about it because so many banks offer free credit monitoring.
Haven’t seen any HP for consumer FWIW
I just got the plan and sim. Cap1 already pending for elevated offer. Can one delay activation of the BYO phone to delay when the billing cycle starts (since Cap1 doesn’t pay out for 2 months)? I am thinking of waiting a month before activating to hopefully only pay 1 month of active service.
I didn’t get a hard pull. Only soft pull I think via Equifax.
Assuming your talking about consumer ? No, I received a pro-rated bill with the SIM card ie billing starts immediately
Did C1S used to have Walmart as a payment option? I could have sworn they did but perhaps it was removed. The other options are trash!
Oh well, looks like I may have to use a reseller.
Yes, there was a post on DoC about that very thing :/
Worst case I may liquidate via ebay currency sales (don’t have to pay sales tax if you’re selling currency). You’ll lose ~14% in theory
mjm Can you point me to the post or give me some hint on what keywords I should use to search for that post? Also what is ebay currency sale? Is it the same as selling gift cards on ebay? Thanks!
You need 2 eBay accounts to sell between. Currency as a selling category has no sales tax (I’m pretty sure. Haven’t actually executed this yet).
Keep in mind this is probably income in eBay eyes.
Thanks @mjm. I am a little confused, how does selling gift card from one account to another account belong to the same person liquidate the gift card?
for lively do i have to make the first payment of 20 odd dollars or can I cancel and still receive the 250$??
Per the terms, the rewards is for purchasing of device and it did not mention the phone service. The $ 20-something bill is phone service cost per month, the first bill comes about 5 days after the order, then the next one comes one month later and so on so forth. Some people canceled the plans some others planned to keep the plan until rewards paid off. There is no concrete DP showing which way works yet.
thanks!
Has anyone contacted Capital One for offers that did not track? Do they have customer service email or phone? How did it go?
I had to email them once on an emailed offer I had gotten. Went fine but that was a couple years back.
I contacted their email after Motley Fool offer didn’t track. They said they can’t look into it until 30 days has passed, which is (intentionally) after the return period has ended. I’m probably going to try to cancel the Fool subscription, but I really haven’t decided yet.
I decided it wasn’t worth chancing it and canceled the Stock Advisor sub. It was shockingly easy, I sent them a message asking to cancel for a refund and got a confirmation email back in a couple hours.
Good call. I’ve passed the cancellation deadline for blue apron and the capital one email support so far is not helpful. I’ll try to email them again
You can email help@capitaloneshopping.com to submit a ticket. It is always going to be YMMV, but my experience has been positive as they had issued courtesy credit to me.
Thanks, ShawntheShawn👈🏾, ChannelZ28, and Frey. I am going to email Capital One Shopping. Motley Fool tracked for me in 24 hours, but Blue Apron hasn’t tracked for me after almost a week. It is pretty weird, as I took the same steps for both offers and made sure the extension still said “activated” after every click through the pages, but it turned out one was tracked but the other wasn’t.
I had a missing credit for a $1K smartphone I purchased. Waited multiple months and didn’t receive the credit. Reached out to customer service and they asked for a copy of my order confirmation email. Received the 15% credit of $150 in shopping rewards (cash back) one day later. That was my only experience so far, which was very positive!
Thank you Jacob ! I sent Capital One Shopping customer service the order receipt. Hopefully I’ll hear back from them soon.
