Interestingly the ad for this promotion specifically mentions purchase a $200 Visa gift card, but the fine print excludes gift card purchases. I assume Capital One shopping populates the most purchased items, even if they don’t successfully track. You might have some success getting this manually credited but I would be surprised if it automatically credits.

So if the Capital One Shopping portal can only be redeemed for gift cards, its value is worth at least 5% less than the stated amount since you can pretty much buy any gift card for at least 5% off using visa gift cards purchased at Staples with a chase ink card.

I have their extension on my computer. If I add something to my Staples.com shopping cart, the increased Capital One Shopping offer appears in my account in several days. I also get an email from Cap One Shopping. So far, it happened on Staples, Office Depot, Vitacost, Columbia, and Merrell.
Back in mid December, Capital One Shopping portal had several targeted offers for me. I completed 5 of them. 3 are tracking as purchases while 2 are still just showing as shopping trips. In email exchanges with customer service, they claim it can take up to 90 days for some merchants to confirm purchases. That is fundamentally ridiculous. I’ll post if and when my 2 remaining shopping trips turn into pending or posted rewards. It feels like their IT department and customer service department don’t communicate.
You haven’t yet realized that their customer service department *IS* their IT department? Just like citi.
Have people had success getting rewards manually credited when they didn’t show up? I should have a 30% reward on a $1500 computer purchase from Dec 11th that still has not paid out. I made the purchase in-app so not sure how it wouldn’t track, and the actual shopping trip shows up, just no actual purchase. Now I’m getting close to the return window and really don’t want to keep the computer if I won’t get the reward.
For the record, I used capital one shopping several times and accumulated ~$400 cashback. Claimed a gift card. Never got said gift card even though they said it would be delivered within 48 hours. This was 2 weeks ago.

They emailed me about two days after redemption plus there’s a gift card purchase button in the app and it shows you the gift card info so you don’t need the email.
Is the Capital One Shopping portal one which gives you cash back or one where can you only get gift cards?
