Our Verdict
Bonus really isn’t that exciting, card normally earns 2x points on Southwest purchases and 1x on all other purchases. That becomes 2.3x and 1.15, still not worth remotely considering using for every day use. For example the Chase Freedom Unlimited is offering 3x points on all purchases currently for the first year. In my opinion promotions like this are almost designed to be confusing for the cardholder, but at least Chase clearly describes how the bonus actually works in the fine print.
Hat tip to formoey
Well.. Here we are in December. Has anyone received their 15% bonus payout yet?
The fact that the points count towards companion does help this bonus a little bit. I’ve spent my way to companion pass for the past 4 years and I easily get $2,000 or $3,000 worth of value out of it. Even if you have to spend 100,000 on a SWA card that’s an extra 2% or 3% return on top of the normal points. Obviously this isn’t for everyone, but it does sweeten the deal a bit if you’re going to spend on the SWA card anyway.
I really want in on this offer but was not targeted 🙁 I’m desperately scrambling to get points for the Companion Pass now that you can’t get 2 cards and I just got one for the 50k last month. It would be practically impossible just to earn it through normal spend especially with a 3k limit. Ideas?
You can still get two cards but one needs to be a SW business card and then one of the SW personal business cards.
I know, but the biz card is a push for me. I think I’m at my internal limit for biz cards with them.
I’m hoping their new “Premium” card allows you to get two Personal Cards.
My friend and I both have SW cards both live in Cali did not receive this offer

What’s with all of the offers targeting California lately by Southwest?
We need it to offset the crazy taxes we have to pay to support who knows what.

So if I have the premier, plus, and business do all 3 cards have to remain open until 11/30 and do I get the bonus on all points from all cards? Or just 1?
