The Offer
No direct link, check email for subject: “Earn $15 back this holiday season with Citi on PayPal, <your name>” or subject: “Earn $15 back this holiday season with Citi at Amazon.com, <your name>”
- Earn a one-time $15 statement credit when you spend $75 or more at Amazon between 11/11/2019 and 12/31/2019.
- Others got the same offer for Paypal instead of Amazon.
The Fine Print
- You will receive a one-time $15 statement credit after you spend at least $75 purchases with your Citi credit card.
- Purchases must post to your account between 11/11/2019 and 12/31/2019.
- Delays by the merchant, such as shipping, could extend the date that your purchases post beyond the promotional period. The statement credit will be applied to your account within 2 billing cycles after the $75 purchase threshold is met.
- Returned items don’t qualify as eligible purchases and will not count towards the threshold. In order to qualify for this offer, the account must be open and current at all times.
- If your account is closed for any reason, including if you convert to another card product, you may no longer be eligible for this offer.
- This promotional offer is non-transferrable and applies to the account ending in the last 4 digits referenced in this offer.
Our Verdict
These two separate offers are being sent out to select Citi cardholders. No luck yet for me.
This Amazon version should stack with the separate offer sent out last month to get $20 when spending $120 on Amazon; hopefully, $120 in purchases will trigger both the $20 credit and the $15 credit.
The Amazon should also stack well with the offer from Amazon/Citi to use shop-with-points and get $15 off a $50 order. It’s a targeted offer – check if you are eligible here (affiliate link).

So here’s a weird DP….
I completed this offer last year by the 30th of December. I did buy a $25 walgreens gift card online as part of the my $75 total. Never received the $15 credit….
Called last month to find out why, the representative stated she sees I did complete the offer and opened a ticket to investigate stating i would receive the bonus. I then received a letter a few weeks ago stating I did not meet the requirements but providing little information. I had planned to call again to try and get the credit (yes apparently the $25 walgreens gift card didn’t qualify me, but i am pretty certain they shouldn’t have that info, so i figured why not try again). Out of nowhere….today on my card i see a $15 credit that says…
“Paypal Award Credit (2019 Offer)”.
I have to assume that it was from this offer…..
So yay…
Double check your statements this month, maybe they got a lot of complaints or something and decided to give it out to those that used gift cards, etc to meet the qualifications.
Cool! I’m also now seeing the credit on 2 cards. Completed the Paypal offers last August /September. Seems like they may have denied based on buying gift cards, but finally realized that was not stated in the terms.
Did anyone ever receive their statement credit for this?
I finished my paypal $75 on my citi card on 12/16 and still haven’t receive a statement credit
I had versions of this on 2 cards and hit the requirements. Called in to see why I didn’t get the credit and they said I purchased cash equivalents. I think buying PPDG gift cards must be what triggered this, but that is certainly not a cash equivalent.
I assume others might be in the same boat. Is this even eligible to file a CFPB complaint?
Mine were on regular purchase items, I will need to call them.
I personally wouldn’t bother with a cfpb complaint over $15…
Got the Paypal offer on my Prestige. I wonder if it has anything to do with my renewal coming up in a few months. (After death by a thousand cuts over the past few years, I’ll probably cancel unless I get a decent retention offer).
i’ve legit never gotten any type of offer like this from citi. i actually never get any emails from them aside from statements. is there a way to sign up for their emails or something i’m missing?
Wondering the same thing. I hate getting the concert/Citi Entertainment emails so I opted out of that. Wondering if this means I miss getting targeted for any of the actual money saving offers.
Got offer, but not understanding if needs to be one purchase totaling $75 or can be multiple smaller ones as long as combined total is $75.
Are you allowed to buy a $75 amazon gift card?
I have the same question. The terms do not exclude gift cards so I’m guessing it should be ok.
Yeah, based on prior experience I’m confident it’ll work.
Thanks for this. I was targeted on my AA MC but had overlooked the email.
I’m still waiting on getting my $20 from the last Citi promo (after spending $120 using PayPal – https://www.doctorofcredit.com/citi-cards-use-paypal-and-get-20-back-or-15-back-various-targeted-offers/)
Anyone ever run into issues with these Citi promos?
Yes I have. Last year I got a paypal spend offer & didn’t get the credit after 3 statements had closed. Called & it was extremely difficult to get anyone to acknowledge the issue (kept getting transferred around). Finally got the credit. Have the 15/75 offer for PayPal again this time but not sure if I want to deal with them again.
Pay with points should work with it, too.

I was just offered this deal for PayPal, not Amazon. But yeah, that should work for those who received the Amazon offer.
Did you ever get the credit? I’m still waiting on mine.
Good point, let me add that.
Thanks DoC.
Know which cards are being targeted?
Only citi card I have is the Aviator Business
As a data point, my Citi Dividend (with rotating 5% categories) was targeted, and my Citi Double Cash was not.
Received the PayPal version on my sock-drawered Premier
Got the PayPal version on my long-unused Dividend.
My Premier was targeted for the Paypal offer and my Dividend for the Amazon offer. No joy for Double Cash or Preferred.
I got the email and I have a Citi thank you preferred card.
Got it on Citi Dividend but not AAdvantage card
Various cards
My simplicity card that sits in a sock drawer got targeted. Haven’t used it in years.
