Our Verdict
Not as good as the 10x/10% offer from last month, but online is a wide category, so still a nice deal. If I’m reading the fine print correctly, it’s 4x bonus + 1x regular earn.
I’ve only seen this sent out on American Airlines cards, but based on prior experience I’d guess it’s being sent out in a targeted fashion across various cards.
Hat tip to reader Brian C
Been getting 5X on just about everything online, including, it appears, my Agoda bookings. I just checked my ThankYou.com account.
The way it posts, the transaction shows 5X Points.
Inside the thankYou site it shows separately
Bonus 3X Hotels
+Bonus Points earned.
This was mentioned before but I can confirm:
You get the 5X rounded up from whatever the base category is. Works awesome because you don’t need to worry about “losing points” when buying a 3X vs a 1X purchase. You can use Thankyou.com to keep track of the 5x.
I got this on my Citi Premier.
“Use your Citi card to earn 5x/5% per $1 spent, up to 2,500/$25, through 07/31/2020 on Home Improvement Stores, Home Furnishing Stores, Computer & Electronics Stores, Department Stores.”
I’m just wondering if Office Supply Stores would fall under “Computer & Electronics Stores.”
PSA
When Citi says “10x points”, and the T&C specify “9x bonus points”, it means that the spend required to get all 2,500 bonus point is $277.78, not $250.
Similarly, “5x” means “4x bonus”, so 2,500 miles require $625 in spend.
Anybody getting any of these spending promos on the business versions of the Citi Aadvantage cards? (I have the biz plat. select).
I’ve not received any spending promos on this card (in the past year) — quite in contrast to family buz versions of the Amex Bonvoy card (which has regular excellent promotions not found on their personal Bonvoy cards) go figure.
I got the 5x points offer for my citi premier card. • Home Improvement Stores • Home Furnishing Stores • Computer & Electronics Stores • Department Stores
Bummer…I only got 3% on Grocery Stores, Drugstores, and Mass Transit & Commuter Transportation Vendors.
I wonder if these bonus points also count toward Million-miler…
Got this offer last month on my Citi Dividend card (10% cash back, max $25 in addition to the 5% bonus category) and this month on my AAdvantage MC (10x miles/2500 max).
I got this offer for Citi Thank You:
Use your card to earn 5 ThankYou® Points per $1 spent, up to 2,500 points, through 07/31/2020 on eligible purchases¹ you make at:
Grocery Stores Gas Stations Drugstores Mass Transit & Commuter Transportation Vendors
i hope this would lead to AA added as a permanent travel partner.
I got this on Rewards+ and forgot about the $500 spend limit and overshot by a lot 😅
I like your enthusiasm!
