Citi Basic Banking Account Package ($200 bonus)
This account has a $12 monthly fee. Waived if any of the following is done:
- Make one qualifying direct deposit and one qualifying bill payment per statement period OR

Our Verdict
Citi rates are basically 0% APY, or close enough to it. To get this bonus it looks like you just need to deposit the funds and maintain them for 60 days, you’ll then probably need to keep the account open for another month or two for the bonus to actually post. So we will just assume funds need to be in there f0r 90 days. The effective rates then become:
- $1,500 bonus: ~3% APY
- $750 bonus: ~6% APY
- $500 bonus: ~13.3% APY
- $200 bonus: ~16% APY
As you can see the APY improves dramatically as the bonus drops, but the amount of funds you’re getting that high APY on also decreases. I’d say only the $500/$200 bonuses are worth doing, those are very similar to the public bonuses we see.

Thanks. Maximum is 1500 and it expires on 12/31/2020
DP:
7/30: Opened account with $15k
9/28: 60th day maintaining $15k balance
11/6: Received email saying I’ve met all the bonus qualifications and can expect the bonus to post within 30 days
$500 bonus posted on 11/6
This doesn’t make sense!! Why would Citi start a targeted round of increased bonuses when same time they are running a public promotion ?https://www.doctorofcredit.com/citi-400-600-personal-checking-savings-bonus-available-nationwide-direct-deposit-not-required/
Who could they potentially be targeting?
I don’t think people who have already availed the public offer will be eligible for this.
I keep $200K in my gloves box 🙂
o hi, it’s me ur friend. can i borrow ur car?
You can borrow mine a classic 1971 Ford Pinto or if you prefer to make grand entrance I have a 1985 fully loaded Yugo GV
Do you have to wait for the full 90 days for the bonus to post after waiting for the initial 60 days
