Our Verdict
It’s good to see Citibank back to their old tricks with this terrible offer. They currently have a better offer for $300 that requires only a $15,000 deposit so let’s only focus on the accounts that earn $500 or $800.
Citibank offers a truly poor interest rate on these accounts (highest is around 0.10% APY). You could instead get an account that offers 1%+ APY. Let’s say you put $1,000,000 into the Citi account, you’re basically losing ~$25 in interest per day. You need to maintain that balance for 30 days, you just lost $750 – basically the entire bonus.
This offer is truly awful, stay away from it. You can view much better checking & saving bonuses here instead.

I’m gonna ask my dad for a small loan of million dollars. Who knows. Maybe someday I will run for president.
How many women will be impressed with a guy with a million.
Anyone who does is not a woman
Buy a house when you have one million.
This is so sweet, I am wondering if can I open multiple accounts each with 1 mill deposit under my name, my wife and my kids. Anyone has tried this before? lol
Stay aware from it? Looks like you crossed up two thoughts while you were writing.
Fixed thanks
What a shitty offer. Fidelity will give $2500 if you put $1M into a brokerage account where you could just leave in a money market account. They have tiers – $500K gets $1200. 250K gets $600. 100K gets $300. 50K gets $200. Can be used for IRAs. Scotttrade and Etrade have similar offers.
Can somebody borrow me $1 mil, and I will share the half of $800. Promise I will give it back 🙂
You mean loan you $1 million.
That’s like when people say “there’s something on my back and I can’t itch it”. So annoying! lol
Obviously you do not know much about money because that deal is outright theft. I can make at least $14k before tax on that $1 mil in 6 months without any risk.
I can make $50k in 6 months on $1 mil without any risk, so I pass on both Citi and your offer.
Care to share your strategy for making 10% a year?
doubtful kid, because you used the phrase “without any risk.” both the stock and bond markets are a “risk.” anybody home kid?
Crappy offer. Why would anyone open a new account with this offer? I’ll just leave my spare $1 mil in an online savings account at 1% to earn $800 in a month.
