- Discover is offering some cardholders an additional 6% on Walmart purchases on up to $1,000 in spend. Valid until 12/31/24
Our Verdict
This is in addition to whatever your card normally earns.
Did not get this as of now. Though was at 10% for Q3 for walmart (spent ~$500) and grocers ( with the remainder nearly the rest of the quarterly spend) after the cash back match comes up in the future (churning yet another new discover account number) w/ 5% upfront.
I received the offer but question about Vanilla gift card. can i sue it online to pay bills?can i register name and address?
This is the 1st time I got discover targeted offer, assuming it doesn’t too sensitive to VGC/MGC?

How does one get targeted for these offers? I never get any offers from Discover. Is there a setting in their app that one needs to turn on or call them?
Walmart sells VGC. Anyone know the fee for these?
It’s been a while since I’ve bought some from there but last time I bought some at the store, they are about $5 activations fee
$4.94 although stock has been pretty iffy since July or so. Not all Walmarts restocked.
Thanks yes went yesterday and found the newer ones with holiday theme are 5.94. I got the last two “Happy Birthday” 4.94s remaining in my Walmart. These are Vanillas with the “STOP” sign. So hopefully should not need to do a manual exchange. I’m yet to use them.

I get the offers from time to time and was also part of that AP “fiasco.” Most recently, got a 6% restaurants that ended last month.
I got an extra 4% cash back on all purchases $2k max through the end of the year.

That’s probably why you never get anything – these promos are to try to get people in the habit of using their card more frequently.
Sometimes I have gotten on existing accounts when I call in an extra 3% (I have got on upto $1,500 spend though have heard of up-to $3,000 spend on forums – your offer may vary) year after year awhile back. When calling just say your looking for extra cash back on purchases. Might be transferred to another department depending on who answers. Takes usually less than five minutes for an extra $45 (maybe you will get a better offer).
Now I just open a second account and close the other and churn accounts to get the cash back match plus $100 on first purchase when using a referral link (make sure it is discovercard.com or discover.com link).
