Our Verdict
Nice bonus if you’re eligible. Not sure how this stacks with the 5% categories, I assume you’d earn a total of 9% back.
Hat tip to Phil Q
I just received this offer this morning for the first time, surprised to see no restrictions. Will become my default spend card for the next few months until I hit $2000!
3% on Discover It up to $1500 over 6 months. CSR said it’s 3% total and doesn’t stack with 5% categories although from previous posters it sounds like it might stack anyway. Also noting since I just learned this recently — you can pay your balance down to $1.99 before statement close, and they will just credit it (close with 0 balance).
I called customer service explaining that a friend of mine received this offer and that I wanted to see if it was available on my account as well; no dice. About a week later, however, I received a flyer in the mail (the real mail) stating that the offer was active on my It Chrome card. 4% back on the next $2,000 in purchases, but it only runs until 10/31/23. Possible triggers include the aforementioned support call, the fact that I just made major purchases with two of my other cards (both of which are on 0% offers) or that my It Chrome (which I’ve had since 2011, back when it was called the Discover Open Road card) has more or less sat dormant for the past few years.
P2 just received a mailer that says she is getting 4% extra back up to $2K in spend. No activation is required. P2 has 2 Discover cards so I am not sure which one is getting the deal? Fortunately, we did the GCC deal on Discover and should get the 4% applied to that since the purchases took place after August 18, according to the terms.
Chatted with CSR in the app, I asked them if there were any promotional spend offers available on my account, said there was 3% back in addition to 1% and 5% back normally, up to $2,500 within 6 months. $75 back total
Not related to this offer but P2 contacted discover (about a week ago) and got extra 3% cashback on discover for 1500 spend for 3 months (up to 45$). But it did not stack with the mobile wallet, seeing only 5%.
Do Amazon Gift cards get 5% this quarter and would the extra 4% still stack?
I got +2% through June 30, 2023 in an email yesterday. I called and CSR said they can see the promo was applied, but did not even have access to the terms so they couldn’t tell me if it stacked with the 5%. I guess we’ll see. Based on others’ comments on previous data points I’m hoping it does.
I received this offer and have probably not used the card more than once this past year. Possibly targeted to users that rarely used the card.
Chatted with the CSR on 08/01 and this is what they told:
Only other offers we may have are automatically generated and if they are available to you, we will send a correspondence informing you. At this time i do not see any other offers on the account.
