[Targeted?] Dosh: $30 With Hotel Booking

Update 12/11/19: Deal has been extended until January 3rd, 2019. Hat tip to reader Wayne

The Offer

  • Dosh is offering $30 back with a hotel booking.

The Fine Print

  • Must book via the hotels section on the Dosh app
  • $30 bonus will apply to a maximum of 1 booking per Dosh subscriber
  • Booking must be made by 12/2
  • The bonus payout will be made 30 days after a hotel stay is completed

Our Verdict

They offered a similar deal for $25 earlier in the year. Nice offer for a cheap hotel booking, for larger bookings you’ll want to stack discounts with Hotels.com. Keep in mind this is a third party booking, so you won’t earn hotel points or elite night credits and your status most likely won’t be recognized. Not sure if you need to have received an e-mail for this offer or not. If you are signing up for Dosh, please use my referral code CHUCKS2. You’ll get a $1 bonus after linking a card.

I booked one with their $30 first time bonus (stay has not happened yet though) and they have now sent me another offer – $15 for another booking.

My concern is that I care about room type / beds, and the confirm on the first stay is a bit vague. I’m pretty sure we’ll be ok at that hotel – and I’ll call ahead of time to try and urge them to put us in the right room type – but if this something f’d up I don’t want to support the model.

Basically they are taking Priceline type of rooms (Run of the House) and charging an OTA known room type rate with a modest kickback (in exchange for no loyalty / direct booking).

But at a very low priced place, $15 is ok.

Made a reservation on January 1, and $30 bonus did not track, even though the promo does not end until January 3. Now I have to deal with Dosh support, which has a response time of about two weeks. Sigh …

If you did their cyber monday deal can you still do this? I see it on my app, but when I go to book I don’t see “30$ bonus” being mentioned there just cashback amount they are going to offer. 30$ bonus from my completed stay from cyber monday is still pending. Just wondering if it’s the same deal that’s been extended or a completely new deal that’s being offered.

I added my Hyatt number to my reservation after the fact, and earned both points and a qualifying night.

I was able to find a hotel where the price was only a couple bucks more than the loyalty member rate, and with the $30 back it was attractive on an $80 hotel near an airport. i would note that it didn’t give any options for room selections. i don’t know if that was due to the property, or their shitty interface, but it said we’d be assigned a ‘Standard two queen’ room. And then in the fine print of the emailed confirm, it said Dosh disavows any responsibility for the hotel not actually having the indicated room type, if there is a problem. So we’ll see. Most other OTAs are a bit more precise about the room types, since that matters. It seems like they are using some kind of Hotel Tonight kind of model and trying to collect OTA known room type pricing for it.

We’ll see. If there are lots of disappointments, people aren’t going to book with them. The app is not an ideal way to book for me. I’d prefer a desktop, and given that there are tons of portals that offer hotel or OTA cashback, Dosh don’t seem to have any obvious advantage.

Hey what did you reservation show up as on your credit statement? I’m wondering if this will trigger my Chase $300 travel credit.

DOSH TRAVEL. I think its coding up as a ‘travel agency’ which is handy for certain mastercard issuers

The few times I’ve compared their prices to other OTAs it was unattractive, and room types were limited too. .
