Our Verdict
A lot of readers have been targeted due to the previous checking bonuses that were offered. Good deal that is worth doing if you’re targeted.
Hat tip to Gadget – Bank Bonus Geek
They sent me this offer in the mail even though I already have this exact card and never use it. At first I thought it must be a higher-tier card than what I have, but no. Any idea if this pre-approval is legit? I’d hate to get denied when I literally only want the bonus.
As an update, I finally received my full 40k reward point bonus this week (equivalent to $400). I’d received the first 20k points back in December shortly after completing the $3k spend requirement, so I took them two more statement cycles — and at least as many phone calls! — but eventually they issued the remaining 20k points.
Pro tip: As always, be sure to redeem your rewards into a FTFCU deposit account (e.g., the Membership Savings), as opposed to via statement credit. The former takes a couple of business days, the latter up to two months.
So P2 got another snail mail offer to apply for a second card for the 40,000 points offer.
I am not sure if I did not notice it before, or if it’s a new feature. But one of the perks is $5 credit for lyft rides, 3 each month. To me this reads 3 $5 credits per month for lyft. Has anyone seen this or tried to use this perk? There’s not much info beyond this.
I just received the offer in snail mail. Is there any DP on bank funding with this card? It would be hard for me to spend $3000 in 60 days without giving up higher cash back from other cards.
I didn’t end up funding any bank accounts. Their interface for checking on your points earning sucks, and I didn’t trust it to count those transactions, or not be a cash advance.
Every purchase I did was at least 1x points:
Grocery, Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, and Best Buy were 2x.
Paying util bills, paying local taxes, Home Depot, restaurants, EZ Pass online were 1x.
I did find one DP for you though, from 2021.

Thank you Gadget. Looks like the application process is a pain too. Guess I’m skipping this.
This deal is back. I got a targeted offer that must be accepted by february 28.
Received the 40k offer via email. Applied, instant $10k approval. I did link with Plaid, so that may have been the key to getting approved instantly.
I skipped it when I applied, and approval was not instant… so, maybe.

I went to Rewards section and I can get a
BRAVIA XR 77inch OLED 4K HDR TV
For 527,656 points.
Looks like a bargain. How much should I spend to get 530K points assuming a 1.5 points per dollar spent ?
Rewards are all 1pt/$, except for gas and grocery at 2pts/$… I’m not sure what your car collection looks like, but as soon as you spend $263,828 in gas, that TV will be all yours!
Hey !
Nice so :
Assuming I have a credit limit of $1000/month and really do want this TV, the car does 30mpg at $3/gallon. I will have to drive 10,000 miles per month. So I have to drive for 263 months so 22 years total. Assuming also that the average US gas goes to 120,000 miles average, I will have to buy a total of 26 cars and fully use them to be able to have this TV.
I am wondering in 26 years if I will need this TV.
I completed the $3k spend requirement last week, and received my first 20k points today after the first statement closed. I redeemed them to the Membership Savings, like I did for the cash back points last week, which took 2 business days to post.
Has anyone tried bank account funding with this card yet?
Signed up successfully this week — too hard to resist! My credit card #8 since I returned to the US in late August and #42 since I started “collecting” a few years back.
Note 1: For those who received the $425 offer both via email and snail-mail, I did accept the latter. If you read carefully, the language for the $25 portion is slightly different, as the snail-mail version allows to be enrolled in automatic payments for the first three cycles without explicitly requiring a purchase.
Note 2: My card has reported to the bureaus right away, even though I have to receive it in the mail and activate it (certainly not a first, but a fairly uncommon occurrence).
