Our Verdict
Basically the same as the public bonuses, just slightly larger. Unfortunately doesn’t seem to be anyway to get targeted other than to just be lucky. Obviously can’t add this to the best checking bonuses as it’s targeted.
Big thanks to reader, James D Scott & Sam S who let us know. Learn how to find bonuses and contribute to the site here.

I signed up for the $350 Advance Checking bonus, and less than a week later, got the targeted $400 Advance Checking mailer. So, I went ahead and signed up for that too. I didn’t see anything in the T&C that indicated I couldn’t get both bonuses. Does anyone have any experience with this? I’m a noob to bank churning and not sure if I should ask the bank – I’ve read the advice not to!
HSBC is ranked worst bank experience – and I’ve worked with more than 100 banks in my time. I avoided them for a long time but caved in and now I remember why they were to be avoided.
WARNING WORST BANK OF ALL TIME (for me)
I did one of these HSBC promos a while back. After waiting longer than expected for the bonus I got the runaround from HSBC. It took a CFPB (or FDIC — I forget) complaint to get the bonus. Quickly got an apology letter from HSBC and the bonus. The complaint was pretty painless to submit so I’d still say it was worth it.
I received $800 offer in my mailbox. It didn’t target me specifically because it addressed “For our neighbor at … (my address)”.
I need to decide whether to go with this offer or Ally’s $1,000.
I just got a conflicting info from a live HSBC agent. For the Advance Checking promo, the $10K combined balance is required to eliminate the fee. But getting the bonus requires the $10K to be kept in the checking account for at least 90 days! If that’s correct, it would be a complete deal breaker.
I got a letter in the mail with the $400 offer – not sure how I got targeted seeing I don’t have any of their products.
Will you use the code, can you send it to me? [email protected] Thanks!
I got an offer for a $350 bonus a while ago (expires today, I see). Minimum deposit is $10K but it’s $5K with a recurring direct deposit. Given the terrible reviews HSBC gets here and the need to tie up that much cash, I’ll hold out for a better offer.
I was targeted for the $400 offer but I’m not going to use it. If anyone wants it, send me your email.
I’ll claim it.

Possible to match?
Doubtful, if you were targeted it’s worth a try
I’m currently doing the $350 Non-Targeted bonus. HSBC really does suck. I was suppose to receive a debit card transfer from google pay within a minute of the transfer being executed on Friday but as of today Monday my checking account shows nothing. No credit. I hope it credits soon otherwise a CFBP claim will have to be made. Just a warning to those who might be using an HSBC debit card to receive money via google pay transfer.
