Our Verdict
Previously it seemed like you needed to receive an e-mail to be eligible, there is now a landing page available so should be open to everybody. We will add this to our complete guide to saving money on Amazon. Should also be able to use the Dash Wand for this.
- Use a credit card that earns at a high rate on Amazon purchases
- Go through the JetBlue portal for 3x points (won’t work for purchasing Amazon giftcards, but can use when redeeming those giftcards)
- Get $10 Amazon Digital Credit when you Add $50 Amazon Cash In-Store
- Amazon: Reorder Using Alexa & Get $5 In Free Credit [Prime Only]
- Amazon: Get $25 off $50 by Using 1 Membership Rewards Point [Targeted Offer] – Works If Used Before
- Amazon Prime Student: 6 Month Free Trial + $15 Off $40
does reload count as buying amazon gc?
Bought one through Alexa, didn’t get the $5 even when the gift card itself has arrived. I guess it’s because I have purchased gift card recently — it’s enforced this time? anyone same here?
“by December 131st, 2017″… that won’t be easy…
😉
“This offer is good while supplies last and only available to customers who have not previously purchased an Amazon.com Gift Card at Amazon.com or through a device with Alexa.” Damn
“have not previously purchased an Amazon.com Gift Card within the last three (3) years at Amazon.com or through a device with Alexa”
I feel like this clause will probably exclude a lot of us who have order gift cards for other promos in the past. Any way to tell through order history if one would be disqualified?
Just to piggy back on this comment – it sounds like YOU CAN ONLY USE THIS IF YOU HAVEN’T PURCHASED AN AMAZON.COM GIFT CARD (by any means, not limited to Alexa) IN THE PAST 3 YEARS?
Maybe that should somehow be reflected in the title?
I’m just going to try it anyways. I did purchase a $100 Amazon gc (physical) 6 months ago… but having an extra $25 gc balance in my account is not going to bother me too much. I’ll just be missing out buying Amazon gc with 5x back via Ink+ through other means versus buying it directly through Amazon with my 1.5x cash back card.
Ok. Let us know how it goes. I’ve purchased at least 2 amazon gift cards (these were both electronic, although I’m not counting the cards I bought with anytime gift cards which I then loaded) in the past 6 months per my order history, so I’ll probably sit this offer out as I’m sure my 3 year total of gift cards purchased is pretty high…
I’m in your same boat. Interested to hear the result.
Any results to report back on yet, T? Interested in this deal but I’ve definitely bought a couple Amazon GC in the past year
No credit. Got the physical card, reloaded to my account, bought several things since, and no promo credit
Wasn’t enforced last time (if it was there), I guess we will wait for DP to see if it is enforced now and if it is I’ll add it to the title.
Does it have to be a physical gift card? Or can you order an online delivery one?
I got the $5 promo code emailed to me today. I placed my order for the $25 gift card last night.
What a way to sucker us all in and not have any responsibility: “… while supplies last.” When and how would we know? Well, when we dont get the $5 I suppose. Lame.
Didn’t receive email from Amazon about it but was able to access the link. Just ordered it; will update if the promo code arrives.
Got the promo code even though I didn’t receive an initial email about the offer. GC ordered 4/13 evening pacific time.
Here’s the actual link to the promotion, without all the referrer junk query strings:
https://www.amazon.com/b/ref=s9_acss_bw_cg_VANS_1a1_w?node=15497504011
The promo banner should actually be visible near the bottom of the Alexa deals page:
https://www.amazon.com/alexadeals
Note that the terms say that “you must: (1) be the recipient of the corresponding offer (either via email or on Amazon.com);” which I interpreted to mean that you should be targeted as long as you are able to view the promotion details on Amazon.com. However, given that both the promo banner on the Alexa deals page as well as the direct link to the promo itself appear to be viewable to the public (i.e. a fresh incognito window can successfully view both of the above, even without logging into Amazon), it would seem that the entire world is targeted (i.e. it’s not really ‘targeted’ in the normal sense at all).
The SD thread on this promo appears to confirm this interpretation.
To be safe though, you should see if you can still view the promotion link after logging in.
Not sure if my links point to exactly the same iteration of the promo though, because I see that the original post mentioned an expiry date of April 8, whereas the current one expires on April 16:
“Offer expires earlier of 11:59 p.m. (PT) April 16, 2017 or while supplies last.”
