Our Verdict
Standard offer is 40,000 points but we did see an increased offer of 60,000 points. Bonus definitely worth it for the sign up bonus, but keeping long term doesn’t make sense. Hopefully this becomes a public offer

How do you get the email?
I received the 80,000 miles offer in the e-mail. However, when I click the e-mail link to apply, I see 40,000 miles offer, not 80,000 miles offer! weird.
I thought the link was broken, but I got this from a rep pretty quickly when I flagged the issue for them. Nutty that it isn’t transparent on the landing page.
Thank you for your feedback on the offer you have received today from Virgin Atlantic. As the base offer is for 40,000 points this is why you are seeing this when you are navigating to the link.
As long as the terms of the offer are met after using the link you have received then the 80,000 points should be awarded to you. Please be aware the 80,000 points will usually arrive on your account in 2 lots of 40,000 points and each points award can take 2 statement periods to show on your account. You may see the 40,000 points are awarded and then 2 statement periods later the following 40,000 points then show.
If you follow the link and meet all the terms of the offer and after 2 statement periods do not see your points please come back to us here and it will be our pleasure to raise this for you. If your first lot of 40,000 points show, that is amazing and if after 2 statement periods from that date the additional 40,000 points don’t show again let us know and we can raise that for you.
Also please note, you must use the email address where you received this offer. To receive points, your card must be successfully linked to your Virgin Red account, and your credit card account must be open, in good standing and not delinquent. Although you may see Bonus Points posted in separate increments of 40,000 and 40,000, if earned, all Bonus Points will be posted to your account within 60 days. As per the terms stated on the email.
Which rep, Synchrony or Virgin Atlantic? How did you contact them?
Also to add – I can find nowhere in the Virgin or Synchrony terms and conditions where it mentions 40 or 80k bonus points. So it seems to be a case of whats printed on the website vs. what’s in the custom email. So which T&C wins? I don’t trust them thus my query to Randomuser about who he contacted. I’ve been through this before where a bank showed me I had a certain number of days to use my points when logged into the portal which contradicted the T&Cs. They took the points claiming the T&C overrules what their own systems told me in error. Got an attorney and won in arbitration.
I have the same problem. Email says 80K. Application says 40K.
