I was targeted for both a voucher and fractional share promo in December. I separately activated the 1st promo on 1 day and deposited $500+ immediately. I then activated the 2nd promo the next day and deposited $500+ immediately.

I ended up receiving both the vouchers and the fractional shares automatically. At some point, I was also targeted to activate a 5% rate on my cash. I am receiving that.

I will probably keep all of the cash in my account until my shares actually post to my account early next month to be safe.

Another DP here: I activated both offers, then went back to the “fractional share” promo page and pressed “make a deposit”. Chose an amount of $503, which triggered both the fractional shares on the 24th as stated, as well as the vouchers once the deposit settled.

HarryTheFirstHarry,

How did you use the vouchers to buy 2 shares of SGOV? I just checked and SGOV is over $100 a share. Are you saying that you paid $200+ from your $1K in cash for an order and then applied the cash voucher to that order which took $10 off? If not, what did you do exactly?

Also, I noticed that there was a place for me to activate the 5% cash management account. I didn’t see anyone mention having to do this so I thought that the cash automatically earned 5% but now I think that I was earning 0% (or close to it) all of this time. Is that correct?

For the question about the cash management account, yes, you need to activate it. And I think not everyone is eligible for it, you will see it in the app only if you become eligible.

I’ve never received or used a Webull voucher, but I read on Reddit that it is similar to Moomoo’s cash reward coupon: it is issued as a cash back to your account once the voucher is applied to a trade order.

Eric
Eric (@guest_1776989)
January 13, 2024 08:27

So the cash in my brokerage should be earning 5% as of yesterday, correct?

I’ve never received a Moomoo coupon. So it seems to work as I described that Harry purchased 4 shares of SGOV with cash and then applied the vouchers to take $5 off of each share.

The part I don’t understand is why he would buy a $100+ stock (SGOV) rather than something far closer to $5 a share to maximize the reward. Any idea?

ShawntheShawn👈🏾
ShawntheShawn👈🏾 (@guest_1777073)
January 13, 2024 11:55

They post interest records by day, so you can check.

Again as I said, according to posts on Reddit, it is not a discount coupon applied to your purchase order, so you still pay the full price first. It is a cash back coupon like Moomoo’s that is issued to your account later.

As I’ve never received or used a Webull voucher, I am not sure if there are any restrictions for using the coupon. But I guess one reason is that HarryTheFirstHarry did not want to lose any money on the stock and he wanted to earn yield from the stock while he was waiting for the cash back to be posted. Also, clicking on a coupon may reveal terms and restrictions related to it.

I reviewed the voucher’s terms before posting here. It is valid on any $5+ stock purchase. However, it wasn’t clear how to apply the voucher exactly although I have a pretty good idea.

Getting “$5 off of each share” (like I wrote) is basically the same thing as receiving a “cash back coupon” (like you wrote). It’s a distinction without much of a difference.

I just didn’t understand why he would buy a $100+ share price stock when the account supposedly pays 5% interest on unused cash. I don’t know what rate that SGOV currently pays but I doubt that it is much higher than that.

Based on his previous comment history, he will probably let me know his thinking (probably similar to what you wrote) about a week from now.

HarryTheFirstHarry
HarryTheFirstHarry (@guest_1777378)
January 13, 2024 22:48

I made 4 orders of 2xSGOV each to redeem the vouchers. Sure keeping it there and earning 5% is also an option. SGOV gives 0.4% more…so why not. The overhead to buy and sell is anyway going to be there even if you buy a $5 stock. I also had the 1K in there already. So I figured I had nothing to lose going for SGOV than any other stock.

Eric 🔗 (@guest_1777385)
January 13, 2024 22:55

If I purchase the stocks for around $10 a share to use up the vouchers, I will then be able to move the rest of my $1K out of WeBull in a couple of weeks.

I guess that you could sell your SGOV stock in the near future and then also cash out but I think it’s simpler to just keep most of it in cash, especially given the 5% rate. To each their own.

ShawntheShawn👈🏾,

I’ve been using the 5% APY account in WeBull for about 3 weeks now. I see the daily interest in green, like you mentioned. However, the interest has never actually gotten added to my “Interest-bearing” balance.

I assumed that it would get added at the end of January or the beginning of February but it still has not.

I checked the app and it shows that my January statement will be available around 2.10.24. It seems odd that they would wait until then to post January’s interest.

Has that been your experience so far?

ShawntheShawn👈🏾,

Also, do you think it’s necessary to keep some cash in the account to maintain the 5% rate? Do you think that I am better off transferring it all out to give myself a better chance of getting targeted for a different offer in the future? Do you happen to know if I would need to sell all of my shares also to give myself a better chance of getting targeted?

1. They post interests to my Cash Management account around mid-month.

2. Based on the DPs, you are more likely to be targeted for a ‘retention’ offer if you have absolutely zero asset in your Webull account.

Thank you for your insightful reply, as usual.

I believe that you missed the question below. Did you not notice it or do you not know the answer?

To be clear, I am asking if my account has a $0 cash balance, if the 5% rate will no longer be “activated”.

Also, do you think it’s necessary to keep some cash in the account to maintain the 5% rate?”

ShawntheShawn👈🏾
ShawntheShawn👈🏾 (@guest_1793424)
February 5, 2024 16:37

Missed that part of your questions. I do not have a DP for you as I still have a few dollars (plus some pending interest) that I haven’t gotten to withdraw yet, but I do not think you need to keep some cash to maintain the 5% APY, because they state that “there are no minimum balance requirements to use Cash Management” in the FAQ and it is not that the Cash Management account is a tiered APY account.

Also, there are better outside options, so no incentives for me to worry about how to keep the 5% APY from Webull.

Eric 🔗
Eric 🔗 (@guest_1793443)
February 5, 2024 16:58

The reason I want to keep the 5% rate is in case they offer a similar promo to what I received in December. Getting 0% (or close to it) or 5% for a few weeks of $1K is only a few dollars difference but it’s not nothing.

Anyway, based on your other reply, I will probably keep some money in the 5% account until I decide to sell my shares of stock as there will be no benefit to clearing out the funds entirely.

Have you seen any DP of the soonest the same person was targeted again after being targeted for these nice promos?

HarryTheFirstHarry,

I received 2 emails recently from WeBull for similar offers that are in this post but better. Based on the comments below, you seem to have implied that you received the 2 offers in this post and attempted to stack them.

Did you deposit $500 or $1000 total into the account? Did you do anything else besides initiating the transfer(s) to your WeBull account?

You wrote “The fractional shares bonus will likely not show up (if it was stackable) at least until 01 Jan.” If it’s not stackable, how could WeBull know which promo that you wanted to do? Like I wrote before, did you have to select 1 or the other at any point in the process?

Eric 🔗 (@guest_1765378)

I just reviewed my offers again and noticed that it shows “make a deposit of $500 or more into your account” so depositing $500 or $1000 wouldn’t really make a difference.

I guess I could make the $500 transfers on separate days which might make it more likely that both offers would be triggered.

No, never received any email notifications of the tagging.

To answer your question, I would assume a single deposit of $500 can do, but it is probably best to have 2 deposits of $500 each to maximize the chance of triggering both offers, and their cash management account offers 5.0% APY. Disclaimer: I am not targeted for the offer. Eric 🔗

Albert, you and I all seem to think alike. That is what I plan to do.

I’m just curious, how did you see my comments if you weren’t tagged? Are you subscribed to this post?

 William Charles,

It seems based on this DP that people don’t receive the tag/mention email unless the name appears correctly in the 1st submission.

With the previous plugin, doing an edit to a comment and then adding a mention/tag did trigger an email alert. Of course with the old plugin, we received a separate email (ie 3 for this specific comment) for each person mentioned in the comment so that’s 1 improvement with the new system.

Eric 🔗
Eric 🔗 (@guest_1765918)
December 27, 2023 13:09

BTW, all 3 of these showed up the 1st time so it’s likely that all 3 of you received email alerts.

The system seems to work MUCH better when I am able to select the tag from the dropdown box instead of entering the “guest_comment #”.

Of course that’s not always possible like in this case, ShawntheShawn👈🏾 had not commented in this post when I initially attempted to tag him but now that he had I was able to.

I will try to limit my tags/links to 3 or less per comment in the future to limit moderation for you and Chuck.

BTW, the issue has not only happened when I tagged people across posts. You will see a good example in the “High Yield” post where I made a comment where I tagged 4 random people that had only 1 comment each.

3 of them showed up with the “@guest_” format while 1 was tagged correctly.

Right. I figured that out later when “@guest_” appeared instead of names that are regular users in other comments that I made.

The reason I brought this to your attention now is to show you that it’s not happening because of something that I am doing.

There is apparently some kind of glitch in the new system with tagging. It seems to happen a lot when the “@guest_” format is used and not as much when the drop down box tagging is used.

I understand that you don’t know how to fix it but I just wanted you to see that it’s not because of something that I (or others) are doing wrong.

I did deposit a total of $1002 clicking on each offer to initiate a $501 transfer. In situations like this, I always go for the case that would cover as many worst case interpretations of the terms as is possible so long as the loss of interest to me is negligible. In this case a few days of loss of interest on $501 is negligible to me and even that is made up by the 5% APY at WeBull. So I did not hesitate in doing 2×501 instead of a single one even though that may as well have worked.
I got the vouchers as mentioned earlier and today I got the fractional shares totaling about $50. The worst part of all of this is going to be the reporting when it comes time to sell the fractional shares and do the taxes next year.

BTW there is a new transfer promo (1.5% of transfer paid out in two parts .8% end of 2024 and 0.7% end of 2025) at WeBull…not sure if it would work for those who already got the offer previously, but since it was targeted to me I am assuming it could apply. Coupled with the 5% this makes it 5.75% (average over two years) if you hold the money in cash for 2 years provided the 5% stays for the 2 year duration.

Still waiting for both P1 and P2. P2 used P1’s referral link which should qualify for another 100 bonus of AAPL for P1. P1 used SB offer and got 3k SB pending already.
If everything was posted as expected in a couple of days, transfer of 27k both (total 54k) for p1 and p2 -> minimum of 420 (new deposit) + 100×2 (ACAT offer) + 100 (refer) + 30 (SB) = 750. With 5% APY in Webull, we probably only have lost 0.5% interest if we put everything in a 4-week Tbill. If someone really wants to avoid any interest loss, one could buy USFR just like in the MooMoo case.

Depends on what your offer is. I think today or tomorrow is the last day. If your offer is to get at least 15 stocks worth at least $3 then you have $45 plus 5% on your 500 deposit which you need hold only till end of the month. So that is a very good gain.
