Our Verdict
3% on ACAT transfers for a 17-month hold period is a win in my books. Nice deal to consider if targeted. Seems they are only targeting WeBull margin account holders.
Definitely stay on top of things with their promotions. I did get the money from the cash transfer promotion but I had to followup several times and others had issues. Make sure you document things. It is also weird in my opinion that they require you to go to a promotion page to claim the money you are owed. After 30 days they claim it expired. That is in bad faith for sure. I didnt get any email from them abotu the bonus being there either. I got everything I should have and will be waiting end of December for the first payment on a large stock transfer to them.

There used to be a place in the mobile app where I could see all the available promotions but I can’t find it now. Did they get rid of it? I tried both full version and lite mode. I only see repeated messages about the referral bonus and ira transfer bonus.
Does anyone know if opening a brokerage account will increase my chances of getting this targeted offer?
I created an initial webull account by providing personal info, but haven’t gone to the next step of opening a brokerage account. I keep getting referral offers, but not this specific 3% bonus.
I’m considering making a deposit to get the 3% match but I recently did the Tastytrade bonus and I’m still in the holding period. I already paid taxes on the $3000 bonus which will presumably be clawed back if I transfer out to Webull. Anyone know if I can recoup the taxes paid on the $3000 Tastytrade bonus if they claw it back?
Maybe add a note about the 3.5% IRA transfer bonus here?
I got a targeted offer (as an existing user) in email 3/18/2024 that’s similar, but some differences: 2 year holding period (with 50% of the bonus posting after 1 year, rest after 2 years); 3% on both deposits and transfers.
“Between 3/18/2024 12:00 AM ET and 4/30/2024 11:59 PM ET, we are matching 3% on your incoming deposits and transfers (min. $100,000 – max. $2,000,000)! Maintain your funds till 4/30/2025 to get 50% of the 3% match and get the remainder 50% of it on 4/30/2026.”
I think I’ll do it, though not planning to go above the SIPC limit.
One thing I’m worried about is Webull’s new Omnibus arrangement; since Webull is handling more things themselves now, they might have problems with tax forms, cost basis, transfers. But for a big bonus, maybe it’s still worthwhile.
I had no issue transferring via ACAT. I think some of my securities did not become live in their system until after 3/15. Trying to confirm with them via email that all is good. FOr me this was too good to pass up. The company (Webull ) is expanding and will be a public stock in the second half of this year. I will take advantage of any good broker bonus offers since I think they can be a huge benefit. Most of my stuff will be buy and hold index stuff. I still prefer Fidelity overall, however I cant pass up agressive offers. What I tend to do is just let the long hold stuff sit in that new broker and continue to add to my positions in my favored broker account which for me is Fidelity. There are so many of these brokers trying to get business.
I thought the ACAT just needed to be initiated by 03/15, 11:59pm eastern.
Were you able to confirm that?
Otherwise it would be pretty deceiving since we don’t have any control how long the transfer takes.
They emailed me and said everything was ok and by the end of December the first bonus amount will post. I think they are are trying to get many more customers and assets under management as they go public.
Well I submitted the ACAT transfer today from E*Trade. Will see what happens.
Just got a message on the app offering 3.5% on all IRA transfers and deposits (4.5% if you refer a friend)
