Three updates on the Chase Pay – Best Buy promotion regarding Sapphire cards, Freedom Unlimited card, and a new $300 limit. We’ll add the information to the original post too Chase Pay: 10x/10% Points At Best Buy On Up To $400 – New Offer [Important Updates Added.
- The offer to get 10x at Best Buy stores is now rolling out to Sapphire cards as well. Previously we were told it’s Freedom only, now they’re expanding it to Sapphire. No public link yet, let us know if you find one. People are getting an email about this on Sapphire Reserve and Preferred cards. We don’t know whether the Sapphire offer is targeted or public. It states “this offer is non-transferable,” but that might be boiler plate lingo. We’ll update when we hear back from the Chase media team.
- One reader found that the offer worked on their Freedom Unlimited card too. It’s not yet official, so no guarantee, but if you’re spending at Best Buy could be worth using that card too. Another interesting thing a reader comments here that they used Sapphire before the promo was released for that card and it worked, so it might be public on all 4 cards.
- Note this change: while initially the promotion was being advertised with a $400 limit, it’s now been changed to $300. The media team confirmed that $400 was a mistake and $300 is the correct number. I would have assumed they’d honor the $400 limit for the Freedom card since that’s how it was advertised, but for now it seems they are not doing so. The Sapphire promo was always showing as $300 so that will certainly be the limit there.
If you have the offer on both the Freedom and Sapphire cards, it’s smart to use it on the Sapphire at Best Buy and the Freedom elsewhere since the Freedom is really just a 5% bonus on top of the 5% mobile wallets category.
Update: Readers tells us that it’s now being sent out on Freedom Unlimited and all Sapphire cards. I suspect it’s a public offer, but we don’t know that for certain. You can split a charge across multiple credit cards at a Best Buy store.
