Topcashback: Signup As Uber Driver & Get $262.50 With First Trip

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Topcashback is offering $262.50 if you click through their portal to signup as a new Uber driver on the Uber app and complete your first drive.

(I believe clicking through the Topcashback link on a computer browser and signing up there on the Uber website should work as well.)

Our Verdict

We’ve seen similar Uber or UberEats offers in the past; this one is from the best offers we’ve ever seen. While I’m not sure it’s worth going through the process of becoming an Uber driver just for the promo, this is certainly a nice bump for someone considering.

For some unknown reason I have a weird enjoyment from blogposts about people’s first experiences with their first Uber, UberEats, Doordash, etc signup and drives.

  • I would like to hear experiences for Uber ONLY, not Ubereats. More specifically, do you have to switch your insurance if you only plan on doing only 1 ride to get the bonus? If it's more than 3 hours of work to signup and do a drive, probably not worth it for me.

  • does this have to be an uber drive? or would delivering an ubereats order count as well? defifnitely interested, and maybe this topcashback promo would stack with any new driver/delivery offer that uber is offering directly?

    • When you're signing up they give you the option of doing one or both just make sure you only click driver so you can stack the other one.I made this mistake I'm trying to correct it now, which is very difficult.

  • I did it for Uber Eats last year for $100 and found it worth the effort. You have to watch a series of trainings and upload documents and selfies. But it wasn't onerous, and with the bonus, I made $126 in one long delivery. I had no idea people would order from a Chinese restaurant several towns away all the way to a hospital and leave a big tip. But one delivery, and I was done. Did not tell my insurance for that trip, and if I did get in an accident, I didn't have a passenger to worry about.

  • Decent payoff but I do wonder whether it is worth it based on the requirements/effort that goes into obtaining it and that you have to pay tax on the payout. When I say "have to" I am not sure if Uber includes the sign-up bonus on a 1099 but technically for sign-up bonuses you are suppose to pay tax on them either way and that could eat up 20-30% or so of this quantity for most people. The pro-socialist regime in power right now just spent many billions of taxpayer dollars to hire 87,000 IRS employees and arm some of them to go around shaking out people's pockets to try and offset the cost of hiring them.

  • can anyone speak from experience how painful/painless the signup process is for uber and just doing one ride? I'd do this for $262 if its not that bad, but if its a huge hassle then would pass. anyone have any thoughts if worth pursuing or not, assuming i wouldnt plan to be doing uber if this promo wasnt happening

    • @guest_1448677 I signed up as an Uber Eats driver last year when they had a $250 promo for one delivery. Was easy, worthwhile, and I thought it was cool to see how the delivery process looks from the driver’s perspective.

Yep, it was painless and easy. Still deliver occasionally at night for the fun of it (and extra money). Been about 6 months now and I've never spoken to a real person at Uber.

    • Not sure how they do it now, but a few years back I did this for a $1000 sign on bonus, but it was a PAIN. You had to go to a 1 hour in-person orientation with your car. Definitely would not do it again.

    • One thing to keep in mind is that you would need to let your insurance know you are driving for Uber. If something happens and they find out it wasn't for personal use they will deny the claim. I think it's too much hassle in my mind.

      • From Ubers website, "When you're online with Uber, we maintain auto insurance on your behalf. Leading auto insurance providers help protect you and your riders in the event of a covered accident."

I don't Uber, but i do work for a different company that doesn't provide commercial auto insurance. I have"business use" insurance from state farm for $68 a month.

      • Speaking from experience working in home health, premiums for insurance under business use are about double that for personal use, as well.

And this was on a cheapola subcompact car with only liability and uninsured motorist coverage, not collision and comp.

    • Also interested. Thinking about getting a new or newer car- would these Uber / Lyft bonuses be worth considering for a little extra cash to help soften the blow of the cost?

    • I tried to complete a similar Lyft offer (they occur near quarter ends to boost # of drivers on SEC reporting - or at least that's what I think) and I had to go through a background check, get my car inspected, and wait a few days. I didn't go through w it as my license didn't match my new car plates and I wasn't going to waste a day at the DMV taking a written test.
