The Offer
TradeStation is offering a bonus in the form of 90 days of commission-free trades for new customers who open and fund an equities and/or futures brokerage account with at least $5,000.
TradeStation offers a few pricing plans: a per-share plan of $0.01/share, a per-trade plan of $4.99/trade, and an unbundled plan of as low as $0.002/trade.
90 Days of Commission-Free Trades
To receive the free trades offer, you must do the following:
- Open a new TradeStation equities and/or futures account.
- Fund the account with $5,000 by June 30, 2015.
- Receive free trades good for 90 days.
Rules:
- Commission-free for up to 90 days is defined as no account service fee or RadarScreen fee for the first 90 days after the account is opened.
- Customers who fund by this date are eligible for a maximum commission rebate amount not to exceed $500.
- The commission rebate would automatically applied to the account holder’s balance until the maximum rebate amount is achieved or the offer period ends.
- Commission rebates are limited to commissions for trades of equities shares, futures or options contracts executed through the TradeStation platform, and can’t be used towards mutual funds, futures options, bonds or private placements.
- Real-time exchange fees are not included in fee waivers. You will be billed exchange fees for any real-time exchanges or premium services.
- After 90 days, monthly fees may be imposed if a minimum balance or minimum trading activity is not met.
- A $14.95 fee is imposed for options exercises or assignments at expiration.
- TradeStation free and commission rebates do not include exchange fees, regulatory fees or other account fees and charges.
- Investing involves risk.
The Verdict
Given that the trades are good for 90 days with sizeable initial investment to trigger the bonus, the TradeStation promotional offer may only to appeal to a specific type of active trader. The TradeStation platform received 4.5 stars for “Best for Frequent Traders” and “Best for International Traders” in Barron’s 2015 ranking of online brokerage firms.
