Early Account Termination Fee

Our Verdict
Truist is the new name for the merged BB&T and SunTrust bank. BB&T has offered a $300 bonus in the past and SunTrust has offered a $400 bonus in the past. Now that this bonus is $400, it’s definitely worth doing.

Just adding another DP that they don’t pull chex for business (but do for personal). Opened with an EIN if it matters.
did you open the new bus. account while having an open personal acct ? … just wondering if it makes it easier to open the bus. acct. that way?
I opened the business account first, it was a couple months ago, then I opened the personal afterwards. It might be easier the other way around though, not sure. Though if you do business first maybe you’re less likely to be denied both bonuses if you go the sole prop route?
Ok, thanks. one more thing, did you use the same email address for bus. and personal accounts?
William Charles This bonus now requires cumulative deposit of $2,000 instead of $1500
Updated, thanks
Account opened 10/31. Deposited 11/4. Bonus paid 11/8. Easy
Will try with B2…
LLC:
09/30: Opened Small Biz account w/ LLC at branch to have the fee waived and use their ACH services
10/01: Closed account because I was not able to use ACH services without paying a monthly fee
10/05: Opened account with branch leader, account is enrolled in promotion $200 for $1500 deposit
10/31: Called Promotion service center. They said I was not eligible because I had closed an account.
Sole Prop (SSN):
10/17: Account Opened via Phone. Added biz profile to my existing Truist Offers account.
10/24: Received email confirming enrollment.
11/06: $2100 cash deposit
11/07: Reward pending
I have another LLC, I’ll give it a try and let you guys know.
Opened the personal account and tried to open the business account afterwards.
Got the same Error 130 as many others.
Tried again with different email and phone number (non-GV) than my personal account. Got the same Error again.
The address exactly matches to what I have at Chex.
I ran into errors trying to open both the personal and the business end. I opened personal ]in branch, then a couple days later, called and opened business account. It was a smooth process. They asked me less questions than the online account form did as well as honored the online promo for the bank bonus
Word of warning Truist is the absolutely worst…you may end up without a bonus and they holding your funds hostage
What’s even crazier is I’m not the only one….multiple people have had this EXACT terrible experience.

Wealthfront worked
Any ACH should work
this is the biz checking and the only requirement is to deposit funds not DD
ETrade (ACH TRNSFR MSPBNA) worked for me for the DD requirement, bonus posted today after meeting the requirements on the 23rd (Cashapp and PayPal reloads code as ATM and won’t work).
” Use promo code SB24Q4CHECKING online or in a branch between October 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025. “
I did the Truist personal checking account bonus very early in 2023. They closed the account for me at some point. I’d never had this happen before. Since then I have not been able to open the business account online and I don’t live close.
Last week it seemed the app for updates and I was able to open a business account online and received the card in the mail.
I have tried multiple times to register for online banking and it keeps saying that some of my information does not match what they have on file. I have triple checked to make sure I am entering the correct info. After a few times it locked me out.
I called today and spoke with a rope who sounded like he was full of bullshit. Eventually he told me if I was locked out I could wait 24 hours and try again.
He said the online business banking registration was tricky and he could get it opened for me over the phone. He asked for my phone number to send a text message verification. He could not send one and asked if I had recently changed carriers. I have not. I HAVE changed phones but am using the same sim card. Phone # is the same and they have my email. He said that just changing the aim card to a new phone could cause them not to be able to confirm me and the text message to not go through. This sounds totally wrong. I’m using just a newer version of the Pixel 8 Pro, so the phone hasn’t even changed that much. He insists this is the problem.
I cannot go into Truist because I am far away. I will try calling customer service again because this seems ridiculous. And why can’t I set up biz banking online if they have the option to do that?
Anyone have this issue?
Is your phone locked? Amy W
I would say NO, because specifically I moved from using T mobile prepaid to Google Fi prepaid so I purchased the phone through the Google store and did not select “unlocked.”
However, I have NOT changed to the Google Fi yet and have just been using the new phone with the T Mobile sim card.
But before I even call in to get help I am entering in the information to use to register for the online banking and it tells me that my information does not match their records. All I am entering (and I could have used a laptop) are my social sec last 4 numbers, the card #, and what type of business.
At this point it is not trying to send or confirm anything via my phone.
The phone was only an issue when I call in to get help.
You need to login to your cell provider and lock your phone. If it’s unlocked you are at risk of identity theft. Look up SIM Swap scam.
Just a terminology correction here… You should lock your phone number so it cannot be ported out, not the phone. Two very different things. I don’t think that is the issue though.
For Amy W… I have noticed on my LexisNexis file, they do actually show the exact model of phone I have. It would not be outside the realm of possibility that a mismatch could raise a red flag at a bank.
I would contact your cell service provider and explain to them you have switched out the phone and they will ask for your IMEI number for the phone and reprovision it. No guarantees it will fix your issue, but it certainly cannot hurt.
I’ve had basically similar things happen to me with the business account earlier this year. Opened successfully online after a few tries, tried to set up online banking but errored out, then got shut down. I never resolved it and moved on. May try again soon lol
The personal account I’ve never had issues with somehow
All of which is to say, it’s a crapshoot with this bank for the business account. No idea why
I was actually planning on calling in to set it up or go in person. The bonuses are nice and easy. Their online system just sucks
