The Fine Print
- Offer not available to existing Amerant Bank customers, prior customers who have had an Amerant Bank personal checking relationship within the preceding 90 days, or have been paid a promotional premium in the past 24 months.
- Limited to one checking account per new customer.
- If multiple accounts are opened with the same signers, only one account will be eligible for the bonus.
- Applicant must be a citizen or resident alien of the United States (U.S.) who is at least 18 years old with a valid U.S. taxpayer identification number.
- To qualify for the bonus: (i) open your new Value Checking Account online at amerantbank.com OR at an Amerant Bank branch location from 01/10/2022 through 04/30/2022; (ii) have your Qualifying Direct Deposit(s) made to the account within 30 days of account opening; and (iii) maintain an average balance in the account of $10,000 (for $250 Cash Bonus) or $25,000 or more (for $500 Cash Bonus) for 60 days after the 31st day the account was opened.
- We will deposit the bonus in your new account within 60 days after you have completed the above conditions.
- To receive the bonus, your Value Checking Account must be open and in good standing at the time of payout. The bonus will appear as “Cash Bonus” on your monthly statement and will be reported on the applicable IRS form as interest income.
- This promotion may be extended, modified or discontinued at any time, and may vary by market.
- A “Qualifying Direct Deposit” means a recurring Direct Deposit of a paycheck, pension, Social Security or other regular monthly income electronically deposited by an employer or the government into Value Checking Account. Person-to-person and bank transfers from accounts you have at other financial institutions do not qualify.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees

- Enroll in Online Statements or monthly Direct Deposits or complete 4 Debit Card transactions per statement cycle
Early Account Termination Fee
$25 if closed within six months of account opening.
Our Verdict
Last bonus was for $300, same requirements as the $250 bonus. Nice to see a bigger $500 level as well. It’s annoying that you need the $10,000/$25,000 in there for at least two months, but still worth doing for the respective $250 and $500 bonuses (although again the $250 bonus isn’t as good as the $300 bonus we previously saw).

Did anyone receive a 1099? I saw from the 2021 post that they apparently don’t send out. Find it odd that they do not send out 1099
We have not got our 1099. We closed our account last years and not sure if that was part of the issue. Don’t want to find out later and have to file correction.
I called the bank and they said they don’t generate tax forms for open account bonuses. Not sure how to file the tax if no document is available
Opened 4/27/22.
Deposited $25k over the next month.
Used Public.com 2x via ACH (both were just a bit over $500) – which apparently worked as the DD.
$500 Bonus posted 7/27/22.
Anyone closed account yet? Any tips?
Closed account via secure message with $0 balance.
First week of Apr 22 Acc opened and moved 25k the following week
July first week 2022 – bonus posted
So P2 bonus didn’t automatically post sometime after 95 days, sent secure message they credited right away which was refreshing. I think we are definitely within their footprint as there is a sign about a mile away about a branch opening soon.
P1: 3/16 open, 4/12 25k. 6/14 posted for P1. Use Real DD.

trying to find the most efficient/cost effective way to transfer out funds with a $5000 limit/ACH charge per transfer
This offer is no longer available.
There is a $30 ACH fee and $25 early account termination fee. Anyone know the minimum balance I need to maintain to avoid low balance fee? Will I be charged for ACH pull from other account?

THank you Buddy you are of great help to others. God bless you.
Wait at least 181 days to close account to avoid $25 fee.
To avoid $30 ACH fee use the external FI to pull the funds out.
It looks like the account has no minimum fee if you signed up for electronic statements.
