Our Verdict
They offered a $100 checking bonus earlier this year. It’s not a huge deal at only $100, but might be worth doing for those that are in the eligible area that have already done bigger and easier bonuses to complete.

So I’ve had mixed experience with this CU.
Their customer service and website are probably some of the worst I’ve experienced (and I’ve opened over a dozen bank accounts in the last year thanks to this blog). I’ve also had trouble getting the sign up bonus even though I think I’ve met all the requirements. I’ll wait another month before forming a conclusion on this.
However, one thing cannot be overlooked: as someone mentioned in the comments, you can fund up to $3000 from credit card using Paypal with NO FEES. This is the best MS friendly bank that I’ve seen, and it’s higher than the $1000 that this blog post states.
Also, ACH transfers are relatively easy, though they do charge a $2 fee per transfer with a $1000 limit per day, I think. I can’t remember their daily transfer limits but I do know each transfer can only go up to $1000. Still, that’s a 0.2% fee for very easy MS.
I wonder how many bank accounts I can open with them? Since I don’t really care so much about the sign up bonus anymore, I wonder if I can just close and open immediately, or perhaps just open a 2nd account? Has anyone tried with this bank? This seems too good to be true for MS purposes.
William Charles link to offer doesn’t work. Looks like this one may have expired. Can’t find any reference to the offer on their website.
Thanks, removed
I signed up for the account, but wasn’t auto approved. Got a message that they’ll review my app and get back to me. I was able to fund $3000 through Paypal which helped me just barely reach the MSR for my Schwab Plat. Hopefully everything goes through and works out.
Definitely Chex sensitive.
I Called JSC today and confirmed this offer is still available even though the website says it expires in 2017.
the promo code is still: ADDCHECKING
rep said its an ongoing promotion and he doesn’t know when it will end.
Called them today to ask for code and “ADDCHECKING” is still the code. Forgot to ask last date.
Uh oh. I clicked the link and the offer didn’t show up. I then clicked view available offers and saw the $100 checking with code “ADDCHECKING”. I used that one then later saw that the add actually says expires 5/31/2018. Here is to hoping I still get the bonus..
As a follow up, I called and was told “ADDCHECKING” is the current promotion and it still works despite saying expires 5/31/2018. Also, I was able to load $3000 with a CC through paypal!!
Do they allow funding via paypal? How does that work?
Luke, is there a fee associated with funding via paypal? if so, did paypal or you pay for it?
DP: Credit card funding available up to $1,000. Appears all issuers. I used a Chase Freedom (due to AMEX not allowing Cash Advance Limit set low). This makes the offer significantly more attractive (especially if I was working on a MSR on a card that allowed a low/zero cash advance limit).
July 17- Account funded
August 3- $100 DD (Fidelity, employer DD)
August 6- $100 bonus posted
I have this bank locally to me – and we have an account. Mostly because people we work with also have one and need to transfer money easily between eachother.
That said, this credit union sucks, so if you want a bonus go for it – but make sure to close it shortly after (or after the 180 day closing fee is up). Their interest rates are crap, their website and app are subpar…
What counts as DD? I presume you’ve done this offer before?
I haven’t – sorry, we have had this account open for years and years.
Don’t suppose you know if it’s a hard/soft pull?
I don’t – Yeah sorry, should have clarified, the wife has had this account open for 10+ years, so I actually wasn’t even around to confirm that kind of information.
No problem, always worth asking 🙂
Opened the account about 10 days ago, so far no hard pulls on the 3 CRA’s.
I would like to open an account with this CU but i am not in the geographical area although I’m in TX. would it be okay to get your full name and address for referral?
